Suspected poacher mauled to death by lions in South African reserve, reports says

A suspected poacher was reportedly mauled by lions during the weekend after police officers found a man's half-eaten body in a South African reserve.

The gruesome discovery occurred in a private nature reserve just outside Kruger National Park in South Africa, TimesLIVE reported Monday.

“The police in Hoedspruit outside Phalaborwa are investigating an inquest case after a 46-year-old man was attacked and killed by lions near Hoedspruit‚” Limpopo police said in a statement.

Police added: “His half lifeless body was saved after the lions were scared off by gun shots."

Police believe the man may have been a poacher since a hunting rifle was found nearby. Authorities are still attempting to identify the man and are asking any family members to come forward with information.

The wild lion population in Africa has steadily dropped in years, with fewer than 23,000 believed to be left, according to African Wildlife Foundation.

I think they just worded it poorly... they literally meant half of his lifeless body, not a half lifeless body... and according to other articles, half is a huge overstatement.... they found a head and a gun...

well in a way he will live on forever... the lions are gonna poop him out... some plant will recieve nutrients from that poacher turned poop... that plant will be eaten by an elephant which will in turn be eaten by villigers.... ya know what, this song actually does a way better job of describing it than I can...
