Only saw 3 billboards. Great great performances I thought.

Just remembered. Saw Get Out too. Good movie!
3 Billboards is pretty sad. My daughter warned me (she watches out for me!) and she was right, but it ends on an realistically upbeat note....was glad I saw it..

I probably will move up the time table and watch it, others have confirmed your opinion.

I really liked Get Out too.

Don't often send people to watch movies because I may like things such as the way they are made or some quirky thing. Same with I Tonya. I liked it, liked the way it was made, characters facing the viewers here and there, great job by the Supporting Actress winner (Janney?), but still wouldn't send people to see it.

They made the bad guys pathetically humorous.

Glad I didn't pay for any.

Check out moviepass.com a friend of mine mentioned it to me a few weeks back. You are basically filling seats in the theater, like $8 / month for a movie per day, any showing, no blackouts, standard projection only (no IMAX or 3D upgrades) the thing is, you have to use their app to activate the CC for the show you want to see when you are at the theater and you have to buy at the box office. It works well for him, he catches one or two movies a week with it.

Hardly news, lots of GPS tied in apps do that. Heck, Apple has been doing it for a decade to anyone who owns an iPhone. Cellular carriers have been doing it forever. You leave your GPS running, you get what you deserve.

This is shared with “partners, advertisers and other third parties.” In a section titled ‘check ins,’ the company is vague, saying it tracks real-time location data of customers “as a means to develop, improve and personalize the service.”

Last movie I saw was "Dunkirk". Liked it. Don't know if it won anything...don't care. Very few decent movies being made IMHO and I don't know any of the current "stars". F*ck em......

Absolutely, it's definitely sketchy. But, hasn't this been going on already? Search engines target ads to your history and they sell metrics. Websites sell customer databases all the time. Catalog companies have been doing the same for probably almost a century now.

When I do need to turn on the GPS on my phone for Uber or Lyft, the ads in the search engine change. So, google is finding out my updated location, very possibly from cached data when I connect to their site and not a live stream, but still, they still collect this and make money with it.

And let's not forget the huge amount of people out there who are not like you or I, the people who voluntarily give up their location all the time. Allowing geotaging on their photos, running the wayze traffic app or similar, using track/locator apps to share location automagically with friends, and so on. Heck, they might welcome this kind of personalized information feed.

I'm neither condemning nor condoning what the company is doing. Just saying different strokes and all. Me personally, I don't have the service, if I ever did, even if I didn't know about their tracking / data mining, then I probably still would never turn on GPS until I was at the theater anyway and then turn it off as soon as I no longer needed it. It's just how I am with these things...
