Cabo's on my "to do" list...a co-worker and his extended family went there every year during the Thanksgiving week, because it was less busy...he said the fishing there is just amazing...marlin, tuna, dorado, wahoo...the resorts are very nice, but not sure if there's enough to keep your wife entertained if she doesn't go fishing with you...

Great idea. There are some good salmon/halibut fishing lodges on the Kenai Peninsula. Gorgeous country, too, for sightseeing, wildlife viewing and hiking.

Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. Marina Fiesta Resort... all inclusinve with round trip from San Diego to Cabo... 5 nights, Sept 12-17 and it was a shade under $1,300.00 total.

I'm excited. The wife and I have never done anything like this. Our "vacations" usually consist of visiting friends or family. This is just us...

Sounds great. Consider that there are all sorts of warnings including the U.S. State Department regarding alcohol poisoning throughout Cancun. I'm talking about top tier all inclusive resorts. My Wife, and several other couples canceled a Cancun trip last year after I heard about what's going on. There have been sexual assaults and deaths by drowning from people drinking tainted alcohol. Do a Google search on Cancun alcohol warnings. Also the one thing that I have learned from traveling, is always purchase travel insurance and make sure that i covers 100% refundable in case of cancellation as well as medical insurance. You do not want to get ill anywhere in the carribean or Mexico. They will gouge you for 10's of thousands of dollars. Sad but true!
