Here's an idea...

Kiosks at the airport where you can ship stuff forward or back home so the TSA doesn't steal it.

Or Goodwill donation kiosks.

Actually had one at IAH. Out of habit, I had my pocket knife when going through security. The guy TSA started to confiscate it when the female agent directed my to a kiosk where I could buy an envelope to mail it. Cost something like 15-20$, but the knife was worth it. Only time I've seen it, but I don't fly that much

That's cool.... Almost had to throw one away in LA years ago... Southwest was nice enough to pull my checked bag so I could put it away.. I had to go baggage claim and then re-check it but I thought it was worth it..

Lost my fave Swiss Army knife, Fishing model, at McCarron. It was in the bottom of a side pocket in my large duffel bag... forgotten for a year or so... Got thru LAX with it on the way to LV, but TSA handler spotted it at LV after pulling out all my dirty laundry...

He said I could mail it home, but I'd have to go to the P.O. and would've missed my flight. He didn't offer to let me check the bag...I woulda paid the fee had I known that was an option...
