We were out hiking and came across a jail. Thought we'd gotten off the trail, nope. There's an INDOC facility inside the state park. The prisoners work to maintain the grounds. Spose that's not the worst place to be incarcerated.

Sunday, Funday... Hope everyone has a good one. Church for the younglins and myself. The smallest had been sick with a fever since Tuesday. Hoping it's finally gone. Oldest has a party this afternoon.

No sunshine here... Chicago weather is so unpredictable now. Cloudy and some drizzle. High of 70. Right now it says 52 but real feel... 32. Hum.

Today is her birthday. I had been working on her gift for 4 days and got it done last night. I made her a special ink pen that has a photo of Rocco on it. Rocco was her dog that had passed due to cancer. She seems to still hold tight to his memory so I thought it would make a good gift for her. Here is a link to see the pen I had done if interested in seeing it. This is just an example with a photo of some other dog that I replaced with a photo of Rocco. I had decided to use sapele wood which turned out great I think. She broke down in tears when I gave it to her. She said she dearly loves it so I feel like I done very well (which does not happen often lol)

we've got a Golden.. she's 14 now and got the cancer too... she still loves the lake but sleeps alot.. hearing is about gone too.. either that or she just don't give a chit anymore.. 🤣

Breakfast was shredded taters cooked up with some bacon, sausage, onions, tomato, and bell peppers. Topped that with cheese and two eggs over easy. Washed it down with some hot apple cider from local orchard.

Went for a 2 hour hike after breakfast, 4.7 miles.

Now back at campsite warming up by the fire, watching everyone else leave. Gonna head out after lunch sometime.
