Uncleb... That season for your son and yourself sounds Fantastic!! the PVC thing probably isn't to far off from this.. as long as it gives the kids the general concept of Aim, Speed, and area of concern (strike zone) from there they can develop their arm and work on their different delivery modes as their strength developes.. main thing to consider.. their young and growing.. the game is not as important as building their strength in their arm to keep the momentum... don't ever over exert the player/pitcher to bring home a win... after I built this for my son.. I/we moved it down to the ball field during the season, before the season so that other kids could use it while at practice and playing with their friends.. when the season started and through the season.. other parents and coaches commented on how it had helped with their pitchers/kids when it came to game time... I've watched games.. especially in All Stars Games where coaches have pushed their players where the pitcher has had tears in his eyes because of cramps/pains from over exertion on the arm... it can ruin a young boy not only physically but mentally also...
"his whole life he'll be thinking, "man, i coulda done that. i'd be rich enough to retire by now." that will be at 28 years old"
Lofty,
He hasn't given up on the sports... Basketball he plays on an (what is called) old mans team every sunday that he has off.. and he still competes in the three on three tourney's when there running in the areas = 100 miles...Right now all he/we can do is see what the future holds??
He plays this Monday in a 3 on 3 and I'll be there video taping and I'll capture some pics and post them...
