I would not be surprised either. I know one horse person that actually said, "Yeah, pretty much true." when I made that comment.

We used to live in Aiken, SC, AKA Thoroughbred Country. It was a winter colony for the rich and they brought their thoroughbred race horses, hunting horses, polo ponies etc, that continues to this day. There are many stables, tracks, polo fields and even streets that remain clay for the horses. The city at the behest of local horse owners, installed a special crossing light with an elevated switch for horseback riders. They made the argument that it was for safety and the same sort of crossing light used in front of schools to protect children from traffic. They installed two of them for horse riders, none at any local school.

With the sun currently cooling, I predict that we will be heading into a massive, 300+ year ice age by next winter. I'll check back in a year and we'll see if I'm right.
