Anyone doing it? Due to the high starch "gluten free" foods we've been eating over the past few years due to my food allergies, the wife and I have put on a few extra pounds. We started Atkins 20 a couple months back (which we did great on in 2003), but stalled after a few pounds. Switched it up to Ketogenics along with intermittent fasting, and the weight has been coming off steadily. Also doing 2 Apple Cider Vinegar drinks a day, and 1 to 2 Keto coffees with grass fed butter and MTC oil. I'm down 25 lbs. with another 20 or so to go. We did find out that it's a lot harder to loss weight at 61 years old then when we did Atkins 15 years ago. The best things about this life style (besides the weight loss) is the increased energy, feeling of well being, and lack of hunger.

So, any of you other peeps doing it?

Meh, counting calories and a little exercise is easier... and tastes better too.

Not a big fan of fad diets.

Keto daily intake... 2 sticks of butter and a side of bacon.

Intermittent fasting works well and it’s easy.

I don’t have any food allergies but I’m watching the types of food I eat and portions while I’ve increased veggies. Except potatoes, I miss them....I do eat sweet potatoes still.

I lost 30 lbs. this year by watching my carbs. I'm not fanatical but I'll do this the rest of my life. I'm 58 years old and it was time. Now I want a beer.

Slight exaggeration. 70% of calories come from high end healthy fats, such as coconut, avocados, nuts, grass fed diary, grass fed ghee, sardines, salmon, free range eggs, olives, coconut oil, avocado oil, olive oil, MTC oil, etc. Rarely eat bacon, and most of our protein is lean. Better to buy lean protein and add your own healthy fats, then eat a bunch of animal fat full of toxins.

I lost 100 lbs. in 6 months on Atkins back in 2003, and maintained for 10 years. Food allergies threw me off track, and that's when I put the weight back on. Keto is a modification of Atkins, so it's 2nd nature to us.

Joel, I was in ketosis the 2nd day. Since we haven't done sugar in 15 years, and where going from Atkins 20 to Keto, we didn't have to suffer through the dreaded "Keto Flu".

I'm doing a 18/6 2 to 3 times a week, and a 24 hour a couple times a month.

My wife misses potatoes also. In Jan 2004, after losing a ton of weight, we started Atkins Maintenance. We added sweet potatoes and whole grains to our diet, but avoided all sugar. We didn't gain a pound in those 10 years. I even drank light beer and spirits. No weight gain.

Why is it called fasting when the time goes by so slowly?

I'd never go on any diet that's not endorsed by Gwyneth &/or Oprah. [sarcasm]

Good on ya.

I'm 56 and thinking that I am going to drop 25-30. But, I refuse to get ever get anal about any diet or specific foods, unless a doc tells me that death is imminent if I don't. I've always managed with sensible eating and exercise, but just gotten a bit lazy in both departments the last couple years. I still believe 100% that I can control my weight (and health) by eating less and exercising more. And if it doesn't work, f it. I'll just be fat. The day I start counting calories or closely analyzing carbs or sugars or ketones or whatever....is the day after my doctor says I'm months from croaking otherwise

Funny....I first heard of that on Morning Edition maybe 5-6 weeks ago. It did sound like something for me.....I think the interviewee fasted from like 11PM to 4PM....something like that....and then ate whatever from 4-11. There was some scientific sounding mumbo jumbo accompanying the story that seemed to make sense, but I haven't looked into it
