What goes up must come down
Spinnin' wheel got to go 'round
Talkin' 'bout your troubles it's a cryin' sin
Ride a painted pony let the spinnin' wheel spin
You got no money and you got no home
Spinnin' wheel all alone
Talkin' 'bout your troubles and you, you never learn
Ride a painted pony let the spinnin' wheel turn
Did you find the directing sign on the
Straight and narrow highway
Would you mind a reflecting sign
Just let it shine within your mind
And show you the colors that are real
Someone is waiting just for you
Spinnin' wheel,…

I'm with DS on the numbering system; but many just use 1, 1.5, 2, 3, etc. Looked at a few of mine for bass fishing and are either 2s or 3s. I run 8 to 14 pound test generally though. If you are going to be winging it all day, going much bigger adds a bunch of weight.
As for models, I've been a Quantum fan. Not the quality of Shimano (or price), but I always like the balance and feel better. At 75 you are looking closer to their high end, rather than Shimanos low end.

But I'm like teedub; I haven't bought many in a few years, so what do I know.

I used to buy a new Abu Garcia every two years ($80-88 a pop) because the salmon in the upper river would tear up the drag system and the line guides would quit moving while reeling.

$300 for a Shimano Calcutta seemed high, especially with the plastic bail release button.....they are tanks. Have it rebuilt every two years for $45 and the same drag system is still intact and never had the line guide skip or fail.

Sometimes you get what you pay for, sometimes you pay for a name.

Buddy and I landed 4 yellowfin tuna last Friday. He's busy this week, so I am going with another buddy from work.

Hope we find 'em again.

Bryan Schmitt, one of my good fishing buddies, is fishing the Bassmaster Eastern Open on Oneida Lake in upstate NY.

He's an accomplished angler and stands a better than average chance to bring home the trophy. Even a better chance
since I'm not fishing it. :-"

He's also a licensed charter boat captain for the Chesapeake Bay.

Tourny starts tomorrow. Stay tuned.
