What is the recommended size of a photo to be posted here in the forums? I know max image size is 100kb, but what is that in inches? I don't claim to the the sharpest knife in the drawer, but I can usually figure this kind of stuff out.

Any help would be appreciated. I don't want to post a picture that's too small, and I really don't want to post a picture where you need to scroll to see the entire thing.

Thank you in advance,

John

Would it not depend on the pic format?

i.e. JPG, GIF, BMP

BMP's tend to be huge files. Change them to a JPG and they get quite small.

I think they specify a size limit in the post instructions. I use Adobe Photoshop and use the "Save for web" feature and it automatically resizes the file and saves it as a JPEG without losing too much quality.

Save yourself the hassle ...

.. and just use Microsoft's Image Resizer. This PowerToy enables you to resize one or many image files with a right-click.

Inches are not the only factor in files size. You have to check the resolution. I make all files for internet 72dpi which is your screen resolution. The format of the file will also effect it's size.
