Hermano, in this day & age I would think that most major corporations would be clamoring for a man with your credentials and people skills- well scratch that last part out...

Security is one of the few growing sectors in this country.

However, IMO, you'd make a GREAT deputy & then Sheriff.

Btw, know how to handle a rifle/pistol?

And do you think that you can keep your weight under 300lbs once you retire from the Navy?

Don't worry about it. You can always become a private ****** & hire a sidekick named Jake.

When you get ready to retire, let me know & I'll see what I can do.

Yeah bloody, but the more I look into the LE field, the more I see they don't get paid jack-squat.

I ain't taking a big pay cut...

I'd like to make, at least what I am making now (so that really means about 10k more because of the tax breaks I now get). I'd like to invest some of my retirement money until I am ready to quit working.

If I invest 1k a month for 20 years, I think I can stop working at 57.

Let's see. $1K per month. 240 months @ 10% rate of return (pretty good return - I generally use 7%) that would give you ~$760K at retirement. Taxes will eat into that (the big unknown). But let’s just say you will walk away with $500K (~35% eaten in taxes). That will leave you about $2,000/month to live on if you live to the ripe old age of 77. You shouldn’t have to worry about healthcare (as long as the bastards don't cut it in the future). That should be fine when combined it with your military pension and your wife’s retirement. That is IF I just did the math correctly. Enjoy.
