So I get home from work Wednesday night, and I'm told there is a message for me on the machine in my parents' computer room. Now I'm wondering who would call me there since I don't even get calls on the main line, let alone THAT line. Message was from my buddy AJ from Manhattan who was staying in Point Pleasant, NJ at his brother's beach house a couple days. He looked me up in the phone book, saw that number and gave it a shot. I got a hold of him later that night, and we made arrangements to meet the next night when I got off work (I work, literally, 4 minutes from where he was staying).

Thursday night, I head over after work. We hit up the boardwalk, and head over to Jenks for the band Big Orange Cone playing that night. We take a seat at a table near the window, and we each light up an Edge Toro as he had been waiting to try this one with my company. I nubbed mine, and he was hurting with maybe 2 inches most to go. Got some food, couple drinks, more music and another cigar. Hung out on the boardwalk afterwards for a bit, and called it a night.

Picked him up this moring, and took him to Ocean Grove, NJ since he had heard about it and I used to work there. Ate at the place I used to work at, had a cigar on the boardwalk while chatting and then parted ways.

AJ, it was a pleasure to meet you, and to converse with you. Many good stories exchanged. We have to work on your cigar tolerance, and get you to keep up with me LOL. Glad we were able to get together my friend. Hope your trip back was smooth sailing.

AJ is a first class BOTL to hang out with. Haven't had this good a day off in a long while. Thanks "sir."

You're a card, Rick A. Funny stuff.

Stefan, it was a pleasure to meet you as well. It's great when spur of the moment things can be pulled off. Hanging out definitely made the extreme heat much more tolerable. And to have my virginal The Edge by Rocky Patel experience was killer! Literally! I almost died smoking it since it was so strong.

But, I think my tolerance is pretty good actually. Usually I smoke a cigar every other day, but in this blitz I had 5 full-bodied sticks in a 60-hour span. So by the end of that, when I consumed that Partagas Black, I was ready for a rest. That followed a CAO Italia Piazza, a Bolivar Fuerte, the aforementioned Edge, and a Fuente 8-5-8. Great cigars, great company.

Hope to do it again soon!
