I have a few containers. One stays dry. The others get wet.

I live in a very dry climate. If you live anywhere humid, I'd just leave them be.

I want to agree with this. My humidor maintained a perfect 70% with no sources of humidity other than what it pulled out of the air (I am in Florida and it's a tower unit with a very good door seal).

I had to keep hygrometers on the outside of the unit to know when I could leave it open for hours at a time to bring it down to the 65% I wanted. Now I have 2 60G 65% bovedas (top and bottom) in there that serve as humidity absorbers rather than a source of humidity.

I'll have to measure it when I get home tonight.


I may need to add way more boveda packs. 🤦

Change em with a poop scoop and fresh cabbage

Brussels sprouts are even better like mini heads of cabbage so they hold moisture well

Oh and I like red wine vinegar more than apple cider

Kitty littler is all I ever use with sprayer of distiller water. Cheaper or less expensive, and dependable. 48 qt coolerdor

I use 1lb of beads n a 20qt cooledor, with broveda packs in each box. I also run small computer fans in my cooledor for circulation. No outside humidity here. Charge the beads with a spray bottle and distilled water. I was told pouring water directly on the HF beads could cause them to crack.

A few years ago there was a member that was selling archival-quality beads that were supposed to work really well.

I've had a few cigars aged 10+yrs thanks to some brothers here. Some say that after 7yrs the essential oils in the tobacco starts to break down and softens the flavors of the cigar. I'm only passing on what I read on other boards/sites. IMHO CC's really start to come on after 3yrs - although some are good after a few months depending on the vitola. Johnny O's I will try one or two immediately before they become sick (I like them fresh) but let rest at least a year.

Meant no offense over the kitty litter. I have 2 cats and have a hard time putting the same thing they crap on in my humi. If it works for you, go for it. I've only read that charging and training kitty litter to become acclimated at a specific humidity is a PITA and needs to be replaced in a short time. My HF beads are almost 10yrs old and work as good today as they day I bought them.
