The next time you hear a politician use the words "billion" casually, think about whether you want that politician spending your tax dollars.

A billion is a difficult number to comprehend, but one advertising agency did a good job of putting that figure into perspective:

A billion seconds ago, it was 1959.

A billion minutes ago, Jesus was alive.

A billion hours ago, our ancestors were living in the Stone Age.

A billion dollars ago was only 8 hours and 20 minutes, at the rate Washington spends.

Shhh Hog. I tell the wife I only want a billion cigars. I almost have her convinced that it's not that many...

Then here you come and pee in my Wheaties!

Whatever you do don't post how much six inches really is. LOL

I guess that this one is a little old.

1E9 Seconds=31.6887 years (1973)

1E9 Minutes=1901.3258 years (104 AD - not taking into account the calendar change)

...and I'm sure that the government is spending money at even a more ridiculous pace as well...

Just remember the two most important things in government (something that is taught to all politicians upon entering governmental service).

1. Don't just stand there, spend some money.

2. Why buy one when you can buy two for twice the price.
