Good idea gummy - better to mix it in when making brownies for the final "bite me".

I assume I will pass before my wife does, so I say it is her call, otherwise my kids can decide. If they want an open casket and burial, that's fine, if they want me cremated, that is fine as well. Whatever helps them cope the best.

When my mom passed away unexpectedly, we couldn't stand the thought of an open casket and the full grave site thing, so we had her cremated. For us it was much better that way.

When my BIL passed suddenly in December it was difficult to watch the toll it takes on the family. Too many decisions.
So my wife and I wanted to be clear what our wishes would be.
Easy peasy. Right?
I haven't been to a grave marker since I was dragged to one as a kid. Just not my thing.
But I haven't buried my parents or a sibling. Or a kid.
And I think maybe I would an official place to visit them when they're in my prayers.
Or maybe not. Maybe a backyard spot would be even better. Bury the urn or scatter the ash. Put a bench.

I'd rather have my insurance money go to a party to celebrate that I'm gone. I mean my life.
Or towards a trip so my family could scatter me somewhere exotic. Because I exude exoticism.
I spelled erotic wrong.

When my Mom passed last year we honored get wishes to be cremated. The Funeral home Director had all six siblings sign off on a statement that we recognized Cremation was an irreversible process. Was kind of surprised but it has come about due to lawsuits from other family members.

As for me - I’m dust in the wind when I die. The Mrs can decide where she wants to spread the ashes.

My parents had lots here in Chicagoland at Mt Emblem, really nice for a suburban location.
(Mine now and are for sale)
When they moved to GA they got spots in the a Veterans but in the end decided upon cremation with their ashes dispersed in northern Wisconsin.
My brother and I took them up to one of their favorite locations out in the woods, my entire extended family knows where the copse of white pines is at.
There are two intersecting game trails that pass through, there are birds in the trees and the breeze through the pines is peaceful.
When I have gone to visit I have seen deer in the little grove.
I couldn't ask for a better place myself.

Ashes spread in the creek I used to fish at. I spread my beloved Lily's (Black Lab in my avatar) ashes there. She loved going there to swim every day. I also don't want a funeral. I want a party where people have to get up and tell a joke or two then get hammered and go through my humidors and enjoy a cigar on me. I also made arraignments to have whats left mailed, humidors and all to certain people. Also have a DNR in place. If I'm not going to recover and be able to walk out with all my faculties intact and be able to still care for myself I'm checking out. All the papers are in order. I also made sure I'm an organ donor if anything is salvageable. I thought about bagpipes playing Amazing Grace as they dump my ashes but, since I won't be able to hear it I said screw it;-)
