Bring your smokes, or mooch mine.

I figure that by the time any of you azzhats get off yer butts and decide to drop by, all the Kung-Flu fighting will be over.

Well, considering the spectacularly underwhelming response in the past, I believe I'm safe.

But, anyway, there's room for about 8 guys - 5 CBid FOGs - on my porch.

And it can go further than that, much further. You're creating whole new branches of a giant ever-expanding tree, and those branches branch, and it goes on and on. The death, suffering and carnage from just ONE CIGAR MEET-UP that never needed to happen, that could've been pushed off a few months until things got better, can be immense and widespread.

Don't laugh. This is exactly how it happens, and is no exaggeration. It's reality.

Why haven't we shut everything down for the annual flu season before?
How many cases of the flu this year?
How many hospitalized?
How many died because of it?
Is the Wuhan Flu THAT much worse where the country and economy needs to be shut down?
YES.
Anyway, I still invite all y'all to drop by on Sunday afternoons to smoke a cigar or two.
Not lecturing, Dave, but if I went through what YOU went through with GBS, I would take every precaution to avoid going back in the hospital . . . ESPECIALLY with the hospital situation being what it is right now.

I agree with Danm, Whistle and Pudding Mittens and jespear...we have to postpone group gatherings until they can be done with complete safety...we have to look out for one another

By all accounts it's much worse, and attacks the lungs much more aggressively than the seasonal flu does, often involving permanent damage.

Also, we understand the seasonal flu pretty thoroughly, this thing is poorly-understood and quite the wildcard right now. They're seeing healthy people in their 20s with no pre-existing risk factors being put on ventilators and dying. Why? Nobody knows yet.

Again, the downstream multiplied effects of this can be devastating and affect literally thousands of people over time. Take my scenario above and run it further, over the course of months, and just imagine the numbers of affected people.

There's a reason public health authorities are freaking out and issuing "stay-at-home" orders, except for quick and careful grocery runs, and the like. Gatherings of multiple people from different home areas are one of the worst things that can be done right now.
