My most common random thought........

WTF!!!

Got it, kind of dense on my part. You're saying if JJ'S God exists Trump has done nothing wrong because he had no free will in the matter. Wouldn't this also mean that Trump is a better person than you? I think Trump believes in the same God JJ does, if so based on what you are saying they both need to understand they have no free will so there is no good or bad for them. You on the other hand have free will based on your lack of belief, so you can do good or bad. Unless of course you want to say you have never done bad.

Depends on your perspective.
If JJ's god exists, then yes, you are correct... people have no free will, there is good/bad (as in people who were predetermined to make good/bad actions, but they do not bear the blame for having made those actions). If the god is truly omniscient and omnipotent then all blame rolls up to them.

Philosophically, if this god exists, whether I believe in it or not, I would be predetermined to act in exactly the way I am acting as well. Just another character created by that god as a foil, and just as blameless (but again, can be judged as good/bad based on actions).

Fortunately for all of us, there is no god, omnipotent/omniscient or otherwise. And JJ, tRump and myself are all responsible for our own actions.

Did trump believe in god before it benefited him politically?

Just a random thought.

If it's an omniscient/omnipresent god then he was designed to suddenly begin pretending he believed in god at 70 years of age so that many other people who like to pretend they believe in this god will get behind him and call him god's chosen to lead our country.

If there is an omniscient and omnipotent god, I suspect this story is a farce.

No, my point wasn't the existence in God, or predeterminatuon. It is more of a moral one. If JJ believes in his God, then he should believe any action he takes is justified because per say his God sanctioned this and already knows it will happen. But on giving this further consideration, the implication would also be that his God is good and evil. You believe there is no God. Therefore you determine your own morality. Good/evil is a conscious choice for you. Objectively I would have to say JJ'S version of God does not exist. Objectively I would say you could be correct.

To be fair, JJ doesn't believe in his own god either. JJ believes in a version of his god which is logically inconsistent with the powers identified with this god. But that's fine, it's kind of like arguing over whether a griffin can fly. I mean, it has wings of an eagle, but logically those are not designed to carry something with the solid bones of a lion. The mythology says it does.... we roll with it, because it doesn't matter much. And as long as this christianity thing doesn't get involved in my life or politics, I let people roll with their mythology however they want. But if they are going to start getting involved in legal decisions, then the entire thing has to be logically consistent. Which it fails to do.

Only in this gaddam forum can a thread that is DESIGNED to devolve into nonsense turn into a philosophical discussion on religion and morality.
