To develop herd immunity would everyone need to come out of self isolation? Confront the virus head on and suffer the natural occurrence of population correction like humankind has done numerous times before. There are at least 13 pandemics through history that have killed a million or more people. Is this just a modern day plague and we are fortunate enough to be living during it? In the wild population correction occurs all the time so why would humankind be any different.

Just a thought.

^Already had 2 of those... but if we extrapolate, it's still way less than we're told. (calm down, tee... they're jokes)

Oh I’m calm. But I’d forgotten you’ve had a couple deaths in addition to the two vent cases. My guess is your stats are pretty much in line.

I heard that if you gargle boiling bleach you can’t get it

Seems like herd immunity is a pretty dumb goal right now.
A quick search on the interwebs estimates a necessary 60% of people would need to get immunity to have functional herd immunity for covid.

We have less than 1MM cases right now. With 53k deaths.
For herd immunity we would literally need 200x that number of cases, and that would mean more than 200x that number of deaths. That means 10,000,000 dead to achieve herd immunity...

Just back of the napkin numbers.... But that's what you would need to sacrifice to get your 60% immunity right now.

I'd try to find a different way.... Maybe... Or don't. We can always make more people.

Odd note.... On paper we're at about 5% death rate... But thats just confirmed numbers.

Herd immunity is a term for those that desire a BIG kill off of the human population. "Georgia Guide Stone stuff"

First thing I think of when I hear that term is what I witnessed as a young fella when "Bangs" came through our area of West TN back in the 70's. Oddly, the herd about a half mile away through the woods didn't have a SINGLE SURVIVOR!!! The guy had to leave the cows laying out in the field until the Gubmint man came to test them and then he could dispose of the carcasses.

Also when I learned about so called "cattle mutilation" and how time, critters, et al are usually the reason it appears that some surgery has been done, LMAO!

The guy worked with my Father on the RR, so we went over and walked through the foul smelling field. He saw one cow in particular and told me to watch as he kicked the cow's spine area, suddenly a 'possum ran out of the cow's butthole that had seemingly been surgically enlarged, BWAHAHAHAHAHA! That's when I learned that opossums eat about anything. They actually LOVE ticks. I saw a game camera episode where a deer was standing calmly while a possum ate the ticks off her face!!!

I heard that the WHO says there is no proof of immunity from a second infection. If that turns out to be true or partially true, herd immunity will be non-existent or only a percentage will have immunity. This is not good news and hopefully not the case.

on TV right now I can chose from “San Andreas”, “deep Impact”, or “Hunger Games”.

I’m glad they’re not trying to scare us.
