Strange night. Two nights in a row I didn't intubate, didn't even come into contact with a (known) covid patient.

Nice.

That's a great thing. Prayers it continues.

Rumor is that we're gonna start opening back up in IN.

We're still planning for a repeat of where we were 3-4 weeks ago at work, but gonna try to operate a little more liberally with triaged elective surgeries. Knock out the open hearts and stuff that have been on hold before the covid starts hammering us again. Or maybe it'll stay controlled. I don't know. Entering into a new unknown as we did two months ago.

I think I might sleep reasonably well tonight, not watching anyone die helps with that usually.

I bet it does impact sleep.

Hearing slow down at some of the places I'm familiar with (out east...its really just hitting here). They expect a lull and another wave. Funny.... some think the second wave will be more manageable others think it will be worse. I don't know what to think.

Out of curiosity how many patients over your career have you seen die of flu related illness vs how many have you seen in the last couple months die from covid? We had this discussion the other day with some er and icu staff. We also talked about how quickly lessons learned spread. Got to love todays comms.
