I canโ€™t get my humidor over 60% even with 72% HumiPacks. What do I do? Is there such a thing as a lemon humidor?

Shouldn't DMc wipe the inside of the humidor with mayonnaise first though, to season it?

I have had terrible luck with humidors. I will admit I haven't spent a lot. Perhaps I'm getting what I pay for. Anyway, my current an best humidor is a cupcake carrier I got at a big box store for about $15. See through so I can easily see the humidity. Seals with lock down clamps on all four sides. I'm able to put 50 cigars in it. Is it the most exquisite piece of decor in the house? No. But it works. I use a 4 oz. jar of beads and it is working great. I am more about functionality than looks.

It's only gay if he cleans up the excess mayo with his tongue and gets a little on the corner of his mouth, AND if the humidor moans while he does it.

Lemon humidors are worthless. Eat or juice them fresh or put them in the freezer.

As helpful as the lettuce and mayonnaise may be, do you have any other alternatives?

Did you season it?

I prefer Herbs de Provence, but many people use seasoning wipes from Boveda (or just a paper towel soaked in distilled water).

How are the seals on it? I gave up on wood humidors and went to a tupperadore, based on recommendations of others here.

I mean, the obvious question here is what you are utilizing as a humidification control device. A container alone whether air tight or other wise is just a container. You can sell an appendage to purchase some heartfelt beads or boveda packs. Or you could use some silica based kitty litter. Really up to you. Some here might make fun of you for the kitty litter, but they also suggest wiping your cigars with mayo and wrapping in lettuce. (Some reason they like the visual or something. . )

1) First check to see that your humidor is sealing tightly. If it's leaking, it won't hold humidity.

2) Check and make sure your humidity gauge (hygrometer) is accurate. If you are using an analog gauge, toss it. Even if it's a digital gauge, it could be inaccurate. I have been making custom humidors for over 20 years and we always provide digital gauges when we deliver our units. However, even the digital gauges of late seem to be innaccurate and inconsistent oo. I believe Boveda has a system whereby you can accurately calibrate their digital hygrometer using a smart phone.

No back to all the posts about fruit and salads.
