Thats some funny shtic about PA and SA. Way back in the day when TeAmo ruled all and Nica was a chitty 3rd world country a cigar wrapped in PA over SA with mexi fillers was all the rage. Fuente had SA in everything because it was about all you could get except Cameroon from Meerapfel. Things change!

So I grabbed the PDR three cigar maduro assortment (https://www.cigarbid.com/a/pdr-3-cigar-robusto-assortment-maduro/3642741/) recently.

The AFR-75 maduro was interesting. The flavor was "good" but there was just not enough of it. Construction was great, draw was fine, smoke out put was outstanding, but every puff I wished it had a little more body. I drink my coffee strong and black (here come the jokes). This cigar was the equivalent of someone giving me weak coffee. I smoked it, but wished I could have enjoyed it a little "more". The whole time. I am very surprised these are referred to as "full" bodied.

The El Trovador in the sampler, while a little more flavorful than the AFR-75 (odd because it's referred to as a "medium" smoke), still left me wanting. Boy, this thing puts smoke off the foot though. I thought the neighbors were going to call the fire department! Tasty for sure (nice maduro chocolates) but less flavor/body than I wanted, and I REALLY wanted to like this one (the AFR-75, too).

I smoked the Serie Privada Maduro last. it was good but nothing as memorable as the first two.

I won an auction for another sampler pack, so I will give them all a second shot to see if my opinions change after they arrive and have a chance to rest for a few weeks.

Hmmm that's weird. The AFR-75 Maduro should have had plenty of flavor/body. For sure should have been more that the El Trovador maduro. I've got bundles/boxes of both.

Your thoughts are exactly what I expected, and I really wanted to love the AFR-75. That's why I grabbed another sampler to see if maybe I was just "off" that night. It's 100 degrees outside at 10PM here, so maybe the heat is scrambling my brain cells...

Clint, how would you compare the strength/body of the AFR-75 maduro to, say, a 601 Blue?

Hmmmm let me get back to you on that. I've got some 601 Blue's resting that I haven't tried yet. I'll pull one out and see.

Smoked a 601 Blue today. Really good maduro but the 601 had a lot more coffee than the AFR-75. The AFR-75 has more maduro sweetness and less coffee. The body on both seem to be around the same for me. One thing I've noticed with the AFR-75 maduro's is the sweetness backs off a lot in the last 3rd.

Thanks for taking one for the team and digging up a 601 to compare to. Maybe my palette is wired wrong, but I smoke a 601 blue and it's about the most full bodied smoke I think I have had in terms of amount of flavor. The AFR-75 maduro, while tasty, was no where NEAR the quantity of flavor. Almost like a really good wine that was watered down. I only tried one, and have another on the way for comparison, so maybe my impressions will change.

Thanks for comparing for me, Clint!

Also, the PAGE place has the El Trovador boxes on sale right now (6x54) 20 for $75.

AFR 75 maduro appears as oscuro, but Abe Flores has a unique style of blending. The cigar looks powerful, but it's more medium than full bodied. With a page by page search one can find the 6 x 58 Edmundo for 3 deer with antlers, if your sister has good site. Construction is outstanding. We've smoked many.

I compare it to Pa Broadleaf.

You love it or hate it.....

KOC you tried a Tatuaje MEII? The LAdC Mi Amor Reserva is an excellent one as well.

LFD LaVolcada is good IF you LIKE SA.

There’s me being positive....write that 💩on your calendar!

Are those 3 cigars all SA wrapped? Weird... love tatuaje but hated the MEII... mi armor reserve was just ok... absolutely fell in love with the la volcada...

That's actually the San Andre's Cafe Claro sublime version. I have yet to score the actual maduro version due to the WuRona price jump but it's surprizingly good for the price and prolly pretty close to the Maduro version in taste. Gets a little hot at the nub so I toss em earlier then a super premium but I like em a lot. But I love SA wraps so my tastes seem to be in the minority here.

There are a few SA wrapped cigars that I really like but I haven't found too many PA Broadleafs that were favorites

I got a 10ner of those and the AFR-75 Maduro Edmundo at page place couple weeks ago so I could try them out before buying a whole box. Less than $30 for each tenner.
Should be ready to smoke by labor day

That was a good sale. I picked some up too along with some other surprisingly low cost packs. I smoked them back when they were new on the scene and they were a good smoke.

Interested to hear what you think of them when you smoke them benja.

I don't know why but I really want to like these.
