This seems to create more problems than it solves. Does anybody know whether or not we can disable it? Whenever we try it gives us threatening messages about safety blah blah. I’m looking for responses from people who know.

S mode was created by windows to be comparable to Apple and Android it is garbage imho and it can be disabled but once done it can only be enabled by a complete reboot to factory.

Those of us who know, know better than to tell...

You can just turn it off. It's really made for users that are really just going to use the browser and not much else.

I was just pondering, while smoking a cigar outside, why I haven't seen a bear wandering hereabouts for a while.

Macs have the same type of thing. Sometimes it won't let you install software unless you got it from their App store. Frustrating.

The point of S mode is that it is a much less resource heavy version of the operating system created for computers with lower end specs. You can disable it, but the celeron processor or lower and lower amounts of RAM typically included on these computers will cause it to run slower. S mode does have drawbacks, like forcing you to use the windows store, but thats mostly because they have lighter versions of the software designed to run on S mode computers.

Yeah, I get it. It's also to protect the machines from people who don't really know what they are doing from installing infected software.
