My father owned a neighborhood grocery store in South Central LA in the 60's and 70's. All six of us siblings worked in the store as children, starting at about 8-9 years old into our late teens...

none of us were paid an hourly wage...we were un-paid child laborers...minimum wage ranged from $1.00/hr in 1960 to about $1.65/hr in the early 70's...we just got a few bucks a week allowances and had to request money for any larger expense...most of which were denied...of course, candy bars were still five cents, and we could have a couple a day.... half gal of milk $0.35, loaf of bread $0.30, gal of gas $0.33, chicken $0.29/lb

But as of late I’ve noticed folks that have never taken a serious look at the subject or other similar subjects are all of a sudden much more knowledgeable about it than folks that have worked directly in it, on it and studied it their entire academic and professional careers.
