same as it ever was or stripped down?

Our two daughters and their families/significant others live within 15 miles of us and my mother is one town away...but we have all decided to just stay in our respective dwellings...we are confidant next year will be much more normal.

Pretty sure there will be face-time or zoom or whatever people do now. Won't be the same but the risk, especially for my mother and everyone back at her assisted living facility if we made a mistake, is too great.

Sure gonna miss the chaos though. Might be hanging around here more than usual.

Had flights to go to dad’s tomorrow. Canceled them Friday after we spoke. We both decided we can wait until summer and hopefully go to Alaska again to celebrate his 80th birthday fishing.

Hated to cancel those flights though.

Probably be working like usual, don’t have much family anyway parents and grandparents that’s it.

It is certainly going to be strange. My 83 year old mother isolates herself- except for the grocery store, pharmacy, etc. She has vast underlying conditions and covid would kill her. My wife, kids and I isolate too partly because we want to and so that we can be with my mom. She's been coming over for meals, but we still social distance and she sits at the far end of the dinning table from us or eat in my back patio. My sister has a teenager in school, so she will be going over to one of her friends' house for the meal. If these vaccines are as efficient and are safe enough when our options to get them come we will and things should be, hopefully, more normal.

Fed 11 people last year with 5 flying in from the east coast. Wine Country, Alcatraz, Monterrey, Pebble Beach...lots of tourist stuff. This year just the step daughter and her boyfriend will be here and they both already had the Wuhan Flu back in August and live 5 minutes away.

Will treat it just like another day- except not working.

Probably have higher end turkey subs and call it a day. Likely the same plan for Christmas.

Ours will be normal, but our entire family unit has isolated for 9 months on the same estate. We all flew down to an island today for the winter and other reasons. We again will all be isolated on a private estate. We took precautions such that there was a zero% chance of being exposed to SARS-COVID2. The oddity will be spending all the holidays in a tropical climate. We will not be returning till approximately July 15th.

Same as last year with a twist. We have been donating a few hours each Thanksgiving to serving duty at a local soup kitchen. This year we were informed we will be spending our time loading dinners into boxes for drive up distributions.
Homeless drive? Who knew?

After that it will be just the wifey and I with a turkey breast and the trimmings.

On another note, I just saw an article that says everyone can donate up to $300 cash this year and get a deduction on your taxes even if you do not itemize. We always itemize but even if you don't this is a good reason to donate this year to a local charity.

My friend Art has to work on Thanksgiving, so we're going to do a small one tomorrow. He's smoking turkey and my wife is making lumpia for appetizers. Mmmmmm... lumpia.

Wife and I aren't doing anything Thursday (as far as I know). She'll likely want to cook something. And I will likely want to eat it, so there's that.

Porksgiving for us this year. I'm smoking 3 racks of baby back back ribs, 3 racks of St Louis spares and a nice 7lb rack of pork pork loin.

Stripped down here..........no company except my Step-Dad who had open heart surgery 3 months to the day before mine.He isolates as well and we all have a zero tolerance policy for outside visiters in the house.....ZERO.Texas is hot right now and hospitals in my area are full,many covid patients are stuck in rural hospitals ill equipped to care for them.This is not the time to become complacent if you have underlying conditions.

Canceled the trip to Ohio plans. May meet up with the in-laws as they're closer and there's fewer of them, but leaning towards just hanging out with the wife. Gonna be harder to remind everyone the whole country is thankful for my birth this year, but I'll find a way

Staying in with my Daughter. She is quarantining with me after her trip to Ohio.

Roast pork (pernil), rice, and beans for our thanksgiving dinner.

Totally different this year.

Normally my wife’s niece hosts a combined families potlock dinner with about 25 people in attendance. All sorts of dishes with enough leftovers for everyone to last at least two days. This year will be just our immediate family having lunch at our house. We’ll be roasting the turkey (...first time in almost 20 years...), making sweet potatoes with marshmallows, cranberry Jello, and Pumpkin Crunch for dessert. Daughter will be bringing stuffing (...it’s *really* good...). Our son is gonna make his fancy mashed potatoes and buy some poke.

After that it’ll be football watching till (...and during...) dinner.
