I'm a poor searcher, so...

for some reason, The Lovely Caren would like one, though she probably wouldn't eat most things it's good at making.
Just looking for a few positive experiences on brands that aren't enormous countertop space eaters, will do some varied cooking, and also will toast.

and price ranges would be appreciated too.

Thanks

I don't have a huge group to feed so I got a smaller inexpensive one from Wally World earlier this summer. Farberware 3.2 Quart Oil-Less Multi-Functional Air Fryer. I paid about $80 if (I remember correctly) but I see them for $50 now.

Tried a few things: fresh french fries, frozen french fries, mozzarella sticks, jalapeno poppers, onion rings. Maybe I don't know how to use it right but my results kinda sucked. It's basically a small compact convection oven and using it for anything with a wet batter is a mess.

Bought a small 2 liter regular fry baby thing just yesterday to replace it. I don't do a lot of fried food but when I do, I think the old fashioned way works better for me.

The air fryer is just taking up room in the pantry now and I'm looking to just give it away.

Hey Frank!!

I think you should PM BuckyB and see if a trade can be had. Maybe a cigar or two for the fryer.

Just thinking out loud.

I have not gotten into the air fryer or Instapot crazes yet.

I would probably PM CelticBomber to see if he can help.

Ninja FTW

We have the Grill XL and the 8 qt Foodi.

Haven't fired up the oven all year. We love them because we can make Outback replica steaks on one and baked potatoes in another. While it's cooking make a salad and VIOLA an awesome meal around 40 minutes.

We have one, Meh, it's more a device for heating up prepared food that is supposed to be deep fried.

yeah.
my feeling all along is we don't need one. I have a great thermador gas range with electric oven and a microwave/oven above...both have convection option. Plus a toaster oven that gets a good amount of use.

neither of us eat much fried foods, I might a couple times a year, she's like never except for a couple onion rings at certain places. our daughters really like what ever kinds they own, but they eat stuff Caren won't...like fried chicken, wings etc.

Thanks for the responses, I'll check into all of them.

I read that air fryers make the best latkes ever. They come out almost edible.

I borrowed my brother in law's a while back to make empanadas.

Pretty decent results.

But now I know I'm not interested in buying one. Takes up a lot of space and I don't really see me using it often.

I've also had a regular deep fryer that I used like 3x, didn't like dealing with cleaning it. And I rarely make anything deep fried.

We got one from Costco a few years ago: Gourmia GAF 698...6 qt fryer...about $56...only use it to crisp up frozen french fries for the grand daughters...results are better than the convection oven...

takes up about one square/cube foot of space, so we keep it in the pantry...

used it before to make rock cod filets and fried scallops...and to crisp up some frozen wings

we could prolly live without it...doubt the girls would notice slightly different fries...
