When you bid $3, you don't just win the ones the sniper tried getting, and retain your bid for $1. That person would've taken the last two at $2 and lost out on the third one to you at $3.

Your $3 bid is for 5 5-packs, you'ld win 5 5-packs at $3 if it closed right after your bid.

it takes $3 to beat the other persons bid. You bid $3. if nothing changes all 5 will cost $3 each. A $2 bid wouldn't win anything at this point because you still need to bump their bid for a couple.

But I haven't bought here in YEARS

If you had bid $2, you could have won 3 @ $2 and lost the other 2 units.
