Frank... I learned a saying working in LE. "The standard is the standard". Similar to things I learned in the Navy. It means the acceptable behavior applies to everyone. The military is unrepentant. The cream rises to the top. They see no color. Leaders will have followers. I've mentioned Master Chief Jack Delucas before. He was my second "leader" when I was a boot. Senior Chief Bill Stallard was the first, but nobody had an impact on me like Master Chief Delucas. He was a black man.

That man got me to work hard and learn my job so I was great at it and I was happy to do it. He taught me that leadership is getting someone to do what you want them to do because they want to do it.

Systemic racism does not exist. It just doesn't. If it did, why does every other ethnicity that reaches our shores excel? Why do Asians do well in school? It's not only Asians. Other cultures and ethnicities do it, too. How? We're racist, right?

I have an acquaintance I occasionally see at the gym. She's from Belize, so she's not "African American", but she is black. She asked me why the blacks in America were so mad. She's a nurse. Makes a very good living. Put forth the effort.

Equal opportunity doesn't mean equal results. It's what you do with the opportunity. It's the effort. You get out what you put in, my friend
