Inspired by Jespear’s comment about buying a hot rod instead of the traveling cigar lounge, I started thinking about what I would want in my dream hot rod. Of course mine would be a ‘68 Plymouth Road Runner, the one and only Detroit muscle car I would own, fix up and race. But then I started thinking about what would my Road Runner look like and have and thought I’d go with Resto-Mod so I would look old school but have some of the comforts of the 21st century:

1968 Plymouth Road Runner Coupe
Corvette White (...also thinking of having it painted Pearlescent White but debating if I want that “look”...)
383 cid (or close) fuel-injected engine (...I don’t wanna mess with carburetors anymore...)
Street / Strip cam with moderate lift and duration
Hooker Headers (...had them on my old one...)
Power bucket sets with a console
Leather tuck ‘n roll upholstery
Automatic transmission (...20 years ago I woulda gone 4-speed but now...that’s okay, I want an easy driver...)
3.91 Posi-traction
A/C with in-dash vents (...not that bottom unit stuff they had back in the ‘60s...)
AM/FM/CD/Bluetooth stereo system - minimum 4 speakers
Power windows (...don’t think this was ever available for RR back in ‘68...)
14x8 rims rear, 14x6 front - if there’s enough clearance, would like 15s
Chromed front sway bar
Tie rod guards (of course!)

I’m sure I’ll think of or there’ll be other accessories pointed out that I would like / should have but going with this...for now.

But my "would you rather" is a Grady White Fisherman 236 with all the accoutrements. Big bait tank, Simrad finders/GPS, ship to shore radio, fish boxes and a big cooler.

Given more money than I knew what to do with, I'd "simply" get a new Shelby GT350, rip the body off and replace it with a '69 fastback body.

In a semi-related note, saw the new electronic Mustang in town and kinda threw up in my mouth a little.

As a kid in '65 driving a VW Bug I always dreamed of having a '65 Corvette Coupe. In my mind the '63-'67 Corvette Coupe is one of the most iconic American cars ever made. Now it's sitting in the garage waiting for our next weekend cruse.o:)

I'd like to find a fairly new CTS and put a 79 Seville body on it... I'd be cool and stuff... 😟

I have mine. 1968 Impala 2 door hard top, SS427 with an L70 motor. It is all original, but has had a full frame off restoration.

I have one waiting in the shop. A model A convertible pickup. I intend to turn it into a street rod, but give it a 1950's feel. Flathead, Shmitties, left side column shifter, and so on. I already have the custom frame and lengthened the cab. It will not be all that fast but it will be sweet.
