I sure could go for a solid 4 consecutive hours of sleep about now. Best I've done in 3 days is 2:12. Totals have been a hair over 3. According to the fitbit thingy

Trouble is, I'm not the least bit sleepy. I'm tired, sure. But I'm laying in bed just looking around. I meant to take a benadryl or nyquill today. Didn't, and now it's too late to drug myself to sleep or it'll carryover into work. So it'll probably be another couple two three naps and back to work again in just 7.5 hours.

Yeah, plenty tired. Canโ€™t remain sleeping. Iโ€™ve had two or thre, 7 minute naps this morning.

Time to walk the dog.

Dog walked and fed.

I think that's all I'm gonna do today.

I just finished a hour and one half of swimming. We went out last night to the Crystal Bay Casino. It was very nice, about 10 minutes from home, a very good restaurant, a very nice casino, and a very enjoyable entertainment room.

Not sleepy even though no rest. Not hungry even though no eating. I think you're turning into a replicant. Does your insurance cover a Voight-Kampff test?

Just a thought for those of you struggling with a lack of sleep... I can't say this is definitely true, but my understanding of sleep and alcohol is that sleep under the influence of alcohol doesn't count as true sleep...

And your body will always wake up after the effects of alcohol wear off...

It's not uncommon to go back to sleep after that, but you're literally starting your sleep cycle from scratch, which is difficult to do and taxing on the body and mind...

which is why many people, after prolonged alcohol use, stop "going back to sleep" and just accept whatever amount of sleep they initially get...

Just a thought, not an indictment or judgement... I'd sleep better if I didn't smoke pot or drink caffeine but I still do both... it is what it is...

^Spittin' a little truth, right there. Alcohol is NOT good for your sleep. The day I use it I sleep like crap because, like you say, you don't sleep so much as pass out... and you're not getting to REM, which you need. Marijuana does the same thing on a smaller scale.

There's a number of studies on it. Joe Rogan spoke with some sleep expert on it, too, IIRC.

I will say, when I quit smoking herb I go through like 3 weeks of the most intense and vivid dreaming I ever experience... like it takes me a couple weeks to convince myself I didn't have some vision of the future... it's intense...

Bought lounge chairs for the pool deck. Stopped at Harbor Freight for a cordless drill, then on to Lowe's and Walmart Supermarket. Glad to be home so I can take a nap.

4.5 hours sleep. Little better.

I dont sleep well regardless of drinking. Never have, even when I was a kid. When I'm sleepy, I sleep well. If I'm not, it's really hard to force it.

I sleep like a dementia patient.

Back to work.

I fear it has more to do with cigars. Example; last night, two, single bourbons. But three cigars. Never affected my sleep before. The last six weeks though, it has. Maybe itโ€™s because Iโ€™m growing younger?
