140 miles round trip each day? Hope they at least don't require you to drive your own car

Yup. Personal car unfortunately on my own time. Adds like 45 min each way on my commute.

$0.56 per mile is the current IRS tax deduction per mile...more than $70/day

That is a benefit of it but we have to deduct our normal miles that we would of traveled anyways. I just don't like driving more then I have to in my own car when my work truck is gonna sit in the parking lot. They want us out there for 8 his of actual work verses paying us to drive. They won't pay us overtime to drive, and they won't let us drive company truck on our own time for liability.

Today is also National Two Different Colored Shoes Day

Going back into the late '80s I pulled a stunt in the office one day by bringing in an extra pair of shoes that were the same except for color - one pair beige and the other black. Our company receptionist was a bit gullible, so I told her that my shoes had the capability of changing color while I was wearing one of each color a couple of minutes later I showed up at her desk again with two shoes the same color and told her it took several minutes for the change to take place. She bought the story and told several people about the magic shoes. The National Day was begun in the late '80s by Arline Kaiser (from my state) and one of the other office personnel had the same surname, so there is a possibility I was the inspiration. Unfortunately, Aline Kaiser Died in 2009 or 2010, so I can't ask her and I can't remember where the other Kaiser worked in the 90's.

Reminds me that years ago one of my co-workers who was not know as a snappy dresser came in with two different colored shoes. He didn't realize it until someone busted out laughing and he turned bright red, mumbled something about dressing in the dark and would not come out of his cubicle the rest of the day.

The next day everybody in the office (about 20) brought in an extra shoe and at the appointed time switched and stood around the coffee machine. Charlie came out took one look and left for the day. Good times!

Ass kicker of a night last night.

Back for more tonight. Might add on another two more too. Super short staffed. Covid seems to have taught the hospital you gotta pay your staff if you want them to take on extra shifts. Never got more than time n a half for OT. But after losing loads of nurses to covid contracts, they've been throwing out double time for extra shifts, and still gotta pay time n a half for over 40. So I'm getting double time and a half.

Got nothing going on at home. Bathroom remodel is stalled waiting for drywall guy and special order stuff. I'd just spend the time on the couch drinking beer playing videogames. Might as well be at work.

That sucks.

When I was a mobile mechanic, I'd often leave my car at the shop and take a truck home with me if the next day's first job was more in my direction and that was only 15 miles from the shop. Saved the 30-40 minute commute to work and another 30-40 minutes to get back to where I started.

This is the worst hay fever season I can ever remember. It was cool and raining last night and I had to put the AC on and practically OD on allergy meds to get to sleep without my eyes and throat swelling shut. Anyone else noticing this?

Morning dudes. I am starting a 6 month French immersion program today. Though in a very limited way I will still speak and write English. I'll see if an old dog like me can learn a new trick. It is 8 days untill juniors estimated birth date! Me a dad, imagine that.
