Shot we got .77 a gallon in taxes here I haven’t seen $1.79 for many many years...

In Illinois it is .79 a gallon.

In Nevada we pay .54 a gallon.

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The state of Missouri will see its first gas tax increase in nearly 25 years later this year.

After a lengthy debate in the House Tuesday night, members voted to increase the tax by 2.5 cents per gallon annually over five years, starting later this year. Currently, Missouri has the third-lowest gas tax, 17-cents, in the country, behind Alaska and Hawaii. By 2025, the gas tax would be 29.5 cents.

The legislation comes with a 100 percent rebate for Missourians, as long as they keep their receipts for an entire year. Drivers would apply for the rebate once a year.

“On that receipt, you’ll have all the information you need to fill out that rebate,” the House sponsor Rep. Becky Ruth, R-Festus, said.



In other words we are gonna tax non Missourians and those that don't keep records (like me.... but I will now)

Nobody gives a crap about flyover state gas taxes. You’re lucky you even have gasoline.

Vehicles becoming more fuel efficient and the movement to save the world from global warming is a good thing right? In MA there are discussions of eliminating the gas tax. Hooray!

But the government can't ween itself off their tax addiction.

Current tax model is "not sustainable" (we need our crack dammit!) so well create a new one that can be structured "anyway you want."

Please give me an annual report that accounts for every penny of this tax. Let's eliminate the graft, corruption, overspending, paying for people who do nothing, and bloated salaries. Guess what, you can actually reduce the tax significantly!!!

I just wish my gas tax revenue is solely used for roads and highways.

This "hack" was not a hack... It was a stupid employee who clicked on a "free gift card" email or a "Your package is undeliverable" email and then clicked the link and infected him/her/pronoun-of-choice with a crypto virus variant. The virus encrypts your machine and any other machines it has permissions to access, and only de-crypts when you pay thousands of dollars in bitcoin. My guess is they paid. You don't have to pay if you have good backups, but my guess is that they didn't, or didn't have the time to wipe and re-install from backups.

Just dispelling the notion that this was a targeted attack. They may have been spearfishing at this critical infrastructure business, but generally these are mass dispersion attempts and whoever is unlucky enough to have an employee who falls for it is the unfortunate business.

Generally speaking (and in my professional experience) that is the vector the crypto virus is introduced. It's much easier for an attacker to send an email to every possible email address at an organization with a malicious link than to actually try to infiltrate the firewall, servers, etc...
