The price difference from Nevada to Cali is quite amusing. Not so much if you live in Cali.

wonder if there are price gouging laws in the states where there are shortages and prices have been jacked up...

Are you guys telling me that Rick Perry didn't provide for this kind of energy problem. There should be regulations for essential industries or should we just let everybody do what they want to keep their IT operations from being hacked ?

Dan-no gas supply issues locally in Ttown except the city has asked people to limit purchases to $15. Hunt refinery in town supplies most local stations. In the county there are no restrictions yet on fuel purchases except price jumped almost 20 cents yesterday. Some places in B’ham are out of fuel.

Be glad you aren’t on Pacific Gas & Electric. My tier rates are: $.26, $.33, $.41.

My 4KV Tesla system on the roof only costs $.17.

Speaking of kWh, this fuel price thing won't be anything compared to the expense when those bastards hack a grid somewhere. That will, potentially cost lives.

some oil expert said CA gas price hikes recently have nothing to do with the Colonial pipeline...

the CA "summer" blend went on sale earlier in April...it's more costly to refine...plus several major refineries shut down for maintenance...

this line has been trotted out for at least the last 15-20 years...wonder why we can't force the refineries to stagger their maintenance periods so we don't get this production dip...

Will you ever stop begging the government for help to force things?!

The CA gas system is special due to our summer and winter blends only being used in California. There are no pipelines bringing in gas. We refine our own.

Refineries do coordinate maintenance especially in California since they have to back each other up in case of failure. There also is a shortage of skilled of labor. Scheduled maintenance is scheduled sometimes years out. New construction like Keystone XL has an even longer lead time.

Disclaimer: HockeySon is a pipe welder currently working at a refinery on a scheduled maintenance job.

If you want the gubmint to step in lets start with their tax gouging.........they make about 25 times more on a gallon of fuel than the producer/refiner.

The government already dictates when and what blends refineries make.

If you're smart you can factor this into when it's a good time to roll some of your investments in and out of the oil sector.
