My swimming abilities also kept me out of the iron man competition... I also couldn't run or bike and had no interest in training, but the swimming was really the final straw...

Woke up at the crack of noon.

Time to try out this new lawnmower.

Lawnmower has too many safety things.

Blades cut off on big bumps and steep angles. Engine shuts off if I get off the seat even if blades are off.

In the garage rewiring stuff to bypass all of that. If I get off the mower with the blades on and stick my foot under the deck, that's on me. But I'm not interested in re engaging the blades 80 times in one mowing session. Did it 6 times in 10 minutes of mowing and had enough.

Good idea. I disabled/removed the safety features on my neighbor's table saw that I borrowed while renovating my kitchen and one of the bathrooms in my first house. It worked awesome!

End result was a new kitchen and bathroom with the added benefit of a trip to the ER and two surgeries to reclaim a thumb. Now I can count to 9 3/4 if I use both hands. WINNING!

Well, this week is starting off on the wrong foot. We spent the last 3 days at the mountain house and got home last night. This morning at 5:30 as I was getting ready for my morning 5 miler I realized I had left my trail running shoes. That is not a problem because I have 5-6 pair in rotation all the time but that pair had my custom orthotics in it. Big problem when you do 12000-15000 steps every day before 7 am.

I have not tried running/walking or hiking without orthotics for something like 40 years due to my particular biomechanics. A trip back to get them would be 180 miles round trip so that is out. I just finished the morning walk but tried to stay on equestrian trails which are more forgiving than my normal streets. One hip already feels slightly weird. #-o

hope they can find whatever is causing the seizures, Bucky, and get it fixed...can't be losing anymore digits, or you'll never be able to get to NINE again...

Lolz. Theres some safety systems worth keeping.

If I get off the seat with the blades on, that's on me.

But cutting off the blades over every root and bump in the yard, im not doing that. My yard is not smooth.

The faster mower, tighter steering, and bigger deck cut my mowing time to 1:20 and only about 1.5g gas. Last mow on the old one last week was a hair over 3 hours and 7g gas.

I included the wiring time in that too. I think I can mow in an hour as long as I skip the woods.

I do need a mulching kit, I HATE side discharge.

Safety systems are only good when you really need them.
Hoping that they figure out the wiring in your brain Bucky.
I assume they already checked for a blown fuse.
And once they figure it out, maybe they can get to work on me...

Gonna try the fishing trip tomorrow. 3 foot swells sound a whole lot better than 7... and it's sunny at the Islands today, so maybe the water warms a touch. Wind only 8 kts.

I want fish for dinner.

Can't eat anything from the lake I fished yesterday. Not because of size, it's illegal to take fish from there due to pollution. Can't swim in that lake either. People do, but all the public beaches were filled in/paved over 30+ years ago. Wasn't until like 10 years back that the town built a water treatment plant instead of routing sewage to the lake. Storm drains still go to the lake.

Think ill go buy a fish at the grocery store.

HVAC buddy not coming today.

But leaving windows open overnight and closing everything during the day is working. House is 76 right now at 1630. It's 90 outside.

I do.

Weird post. Need to use up.

Not just any salmon. Coho salmon. Wild caught less than a week out of the saltwater and in the kenai river.

I have a Quiet Cool whole house fan. This time of year it is used quite a bit. It's 90 here, too, but it cools down fast when the sun goes down. Turn on the fan for a few hours with the windows open... or leave it on all night, and wake up to a 65 degree house.

Close the windows, shut the blinds... house stays cool all day.

Yep. The ones I have are prolly 10 years old now so I need to replace them anyway. Problem is I have to get an appointment with the ortho guy for casts and wait about a 4-6 weeks for the new ones to be made most likely in Bangladesh or somewhere.
