Really interesting study. It answers many questions and creates additional questions. Thanks Victor. I think maybe 3 people or so here will actually read the study.

What? No libertarians in the study? What are we, black? That's so Jim Crow.

Bunch of racists![ram27bat]

That's very sciency and stuff, I'm sure they got brownie points from their commie academics but I'm not so easily suckered.
I prefer to look at the real-world results of liberalism and I'm positive these dudes aren't talking about classical liberals because they aren't leftists. They also don't differentiate between the types of conservatives, are they talking old-right, neoconservatives...what? Too simple-minded a study, it's like saying you're either a Redskin or a Paleface and nothing else.
Bunch of douche nozzles.

Just step out of the conversations here for awhile and watch them devolve in to utter nonsense cloaked as fact…. By folks that should know better.

It’s wild but wild fun.

From the study...

"...For example, perhaps, political falsehoods that receive the most public attention disproportionately advance conservative interests. In this case, conservatives would be biased toward accepting false claims, resulting in misperceptions, while liberals would be biased toward rejecting them. In such a situation, comparable levels of bias across the ideological spectrum would be associated with very different beliefs. Some researchers have further sought to assess differences in bias by balancing messages on important characteristics, such as political slant and veracity (14). This approach provides a better opportunity to assess partisan or ideological differences in bias, but it limits researchers’ ability to speak to the influence of the political information environment."

Clarity of thought. Always searching for it, never quite get there. In order to arrive at a good answer, you need to ask a good question. Thanks for posting this. Incredibly thought provoking.

People need other people in order to be people. You just have to hope you surround yourself with good people and good idea's. You find compassion through other people. On your own you spiral inwards towards bitterness and close yourself off to new idea's. That leads you to treat people as things. Once you can treat people as things you're capable of any evil. Whether that evil is expressed through thought or deed is immaterial. Doesn't really matter what your slant might be. Ego is not your friend.

in a nutshell:

"This study provides the most rigorous evidence to date that U.S. conservatives are uniquely susceptible to political misperceptions in the current sociopolitical environment. Data were collected over 6 months in 2019 and reflect Americans’ beliefs about hundreds of political topics. The topics were selected on the basis of social media engagement, suggesting that these are the very issues that Americans were most likely to encounter online. Analyses suggest that conservatism is associated with a lesser ability to distinguish between true and false claims across a wide range of political issues and with a tendency to believe that all claims are true."
