As far as the definition of triggerred... think about what I'm saying.

Soft in a sense implies thin skin on a subject... which does what? Makes you angry.

I'm inately interested in the why... thus the reason I poke.

Isn't curiosity part of what makes you human?

Yes. That is why I have a disdain for social fast food responses from people. If there isn't any substance behind their talking points which they have been fed from their Right and Left overlords, or are intellectually lazy and fall back on tropes like You're a racist! those people are society's equivalent of fillers in cheap dog food.

8, I want moderate conservatives and liberals back. I have no idea of how to do that. Extremists are always a problem. Unfortunately now they seem to be running the asylum. I do not think they represent the majority of America.

How was I making fun of white people? I was asking how he would feel if we were to create such team names, or would it be ok... that's far different than throwing injun jokes around. If you can't see the difference, then I don't know what to tell you.

Anyway, to reiterate my point... people mad the name changed, like clearly upset. Team names change all the time, you get mad about them too? It was a business decision, had nothing to do with you.

Yeah... I gave you sh*t about throwing the I word around... but I think you and I have given each other sh*t on many other topics than this. What makes this topic so special? I think you're far more sensitive on race than I. I'll happily argue with you about other topics.

Odd how frequently you so freely disparage people with special needs and then simultaneously cry offense over "the I word".

On this subject, I don't care about a name change. I'm not a fan of the Cleveland Baseball Team or their admittedly racial mascot. I just find the reason behind these name changes to be ridiculous. The team has a history that isn't tied to racism in the least, but they're smart to change in today's world of cancel culture.

Don't worry, tail isn't racist... there was that time he called a black woman Chewbacca, but don't worry... he's definitely not racist...

Already changes at Arrowhead Stadium. It’s a matter of time. Last year the dress code changed regarding headdress etc. this year signage and naming conventions regarding the term arrowhead.

It’s hard to argue the Chiefs are about local politicians then call your field arrowhead, wear headdresses, tomahawk chop etc. it’s just not tenable. And a team called the Indians with a chief wahoo logo was not honoring Indians (or Jews right Frank?)

Nothing to do with rights or government. It’s private industry adapting to its customers.

None of it bothers me. I found chief wahoo hysterical in a totally obnoxious way. Removing him 2 years ago without changing the name didn’t do much to delink the 2. For those unaffected by stereotype and racism it’s hard to grasp how a minor change a short time ago doesn’t wipe the slate clean as you continue with pretty much same ol same ol

Many act as if racism doesn’t exist anymore. It does and it runs deep. Eliminating slavery was great, the civil rights movement was great, having a black friend is great, but none of it wiped our racism. Racism runs rampant still. I laugh at those that say having a black president was proof racism is gone. Actually it exposed more racism than I thought existed. Funny though, racism never occurs at the individual level for some reason. No one is ever racist. At least not according to many in here. News flash racism still exists no matter how much you want to deny it. It just does. And no that’s different than the lazy defense of accusing someone of calling everyone racist. If that’s in your playbook you just might be…..

As for the majority not being upset being called certain names that have never been associated with suppression or oppression compared to a minority who believes they have been suppressed and find the verbiage used to do so offensive ooooh take my breath away…..shocking….. duh

As for the Indians I hate the name change even though I understand the meaning of Guardians to the city. I also don’t want the Chiefs to change. I like tradition. The cardinals are not in AZ they belong in STL. Rams in LA. Dodgers in Brooklyn. Sporting KC is better than the Wizards though. And wtf is a brown?

It’s just change. And given what I’ve heard working with American Indians and Alaska Natives while I may not like or understand it it’s probably inevitable. I may disagree but a substantial minority group takes issue with it. That’s bad for business no mater what the white folk think.

As you know, I'd be humbled to have people see me that way. If only I could be a mascot...I could die a happy Jew.

We have had some funny conversations about this for a long time now. I'll share some of what what you and I have talked about:

40, maybe 50 years ago Sports Illustrated wrote about this stuff. They asked how it would be accepted if a team was called the Detroit Negroes and had a logo/mascot of a Black guy with overly wide nostrils, or a team called the New York Jews with a profile of a large nosed Jew on their shirtsleeves.

Would only happen if either group had far less members currently alive. But would be on a par with that red faced grinning drunk Injun.

Yeah. I'd feel honored...

As far as a business changing their name, I'm sure it was based on projected revenue with and without... so yeah, cancel culture bit another one. That thing's a monster clawing it's way out... ROOOOOOAAARRRRRRRR.... BE NICE TO PEOPLE...

Or something like that.

You follow a team your whole life and then a tiny group decides it has to be changed.
People live and die by their teams. Generations are brought together to celebrate and weep based on wins and losses. It becomes a part of their lives, and then a third party comes along and tells you you're a bad person for cheering for that mascot.

Did the name inspire racists and haters? Will the new name prevent racists and haters? What is really being achieved?

Does it really matter what anyone thinks about it? Unless you're Bucky... you don't really get a say in it (I think he was the one with a Packers share).

So no... I don't get it. Teams move, change their name all the time, happens.

You want stability, root for the Yankees... oh wait...
