Bad bosses are a PITA, that said, I preferred a competent asshole to an incompetent nice one.

For bosses that assign conflicting/impossible projects, putting everything, especially roadblocks, on a whiteboard that is in full view.

I swear I just brought my oldest home from being born at the hospital, but today I went and did a tour of a kindergarten for her to go to for next year...

Time flies.

What do you know about the ghost pepper beef-jerky from Buc-ees?

rfenst wrote:

Nothing.

I rarely ever buy jerky. Pretty much only buy it at gun shows from a dude that's always there selling wild game jerkys.

Best jerky I ever had was from a small meat processing company in De Motte, owned by the father of the girl I was dating at the time. This also scared the chit out of me

Looks like the fishing season is mostly over. (Maybe a charter or two for me)

Buddy is taking apart his boat. Seat is out, bait tank is out, and we'll be tearing out the T-top and center console in a couple hours. His boat is a 1991 Parker Center Console. Fiberglass doesn't rot, so the hull is solid as a rock. Gas tanks leaking, though... no bueno.

Gotta cut a hole in the floor to get it out... then take it to a shop in San Diego where they'll fabricate another one for him using the old one as the template. Then we have to reinstall the tank, redo the floor, and reassemble.

He's got a 2006 Yamaha 250 on the back that has over 4000 hours on it. I imagine that's next.

4k hours no rebuild? That's damn impressive for any gas engine, especially one that lives its life at 4-6krpm

I don't think I'm gonna eat the hot half of this jerky.

The meat that was on the lower grate when I sprinkled the top grate with the pepper powder is still near inedible. I put Thai chili and cayenne in the marinade, so they had some heat to start. But then they caught a bit of the hot chit. It's close to my limit.

I had a piece off the top tray. The meat was spot on, the others are too dry. But it's beyond my limits. So hot it made my face numb like I snorted a pile of cocaine. Instant hiccups, and every mucous membrane pouring out secretions.

I did a brief stint in low/mid management.

It was awful. Everyone above you hates you if everyone below you likes you.

Yep, that is pretty much my position. Four of the people like and respect me. One would rather see me go, and two are happy I’m getting out of there but worring about who they will get next.

One VP and one Sr. Director like me. Problem is the VP’s boss is a Numbers Only, Put in any amount of hours to hit goals,…. Cee U In Toledo. If the metrics aren’t met (little care about employees or clients) she doesn’t get her six digit bonus (estimated) and the VP and Director not only don’t get raises, the get heat.

Leaving now gives them some cover for coming up short.

That describes part of the way management was at the law firm I worked at for 9 years. On top of that, I'd get conflicting orders/rules, after the fact, that made no sense.

8-Track, when this job is over, in several years, get a job you will like. It's life altering.
