They set it up that way so that you have a sporting chance to win yard gars at a marginally decent price.
When the bid increment is $3 on say, a fiver of Ruinations, sometimes, if you get in early, you can win a decent priced fiver at $9 or $12, especially if there are say 15 or more fivers in the Lot,

I would guess that it probably has something to do with the max bid that was set by the current bidder. Example,…if the current bid is $5.00, and the bidder has a max bid of $8.00,…then you’d have to bid more than the $3.00 to win.

I posted this earlier and got no response other than "it's always a dollar higher".
That is not the case.
Its common for the bid to be $2 or even $3 over the current bidders.
Anybody know how it works?
