I still like that Alec Bradley table lighter. The big soft flame thing. I use it a lot. It’ll burn any crap fluid you buy without fault.

Next I’d say a bic.

My fav actual jet lighter is a xikar single flame. Really nice for touch ups. If I’m in the mood for a jet lighter I grab that one most often. I like a single flame jet

If you like table lighters try the Alec Bradley out. It’s been really good

Mine is sitting in some TSA agents pocket right now. Despite being a single flame lighter (non-torch) and authorized for carry was confiscated at the airport. Despite pulling up the TSA website on the spot and showing their employee it was authorized at the time I was informed it wouldn’t be permitted. I could lug it back to the car which would probably take 45 minutes to an hour via shuttle runs to then come back into the terminal and wait in a line that snaked forever, or I could forfeit it. After asking for a supervisor and showing him the same information on their own website was told the same thing. Sooooo, now I only fly with cheap ass shyt I’m willing to lose to these clowns. Ironically, next flight I took was a cigar tour and when going through again was told my cheap cutter and cheap lighter were going to be taken, yet my friend flying with me with the same items going through the same agent was allowed to keep his.

Carryon or checked-in luggage?

I’ve always put my cutters and lighters in my check-in and when I first got them, used the TSA approved lighter cases. Have since misplaced / forgotten where they are so I just throw them in nekked. No issues either way.

Carryon. I have those cases to check in in but sometimes I fly without checking luggage.

Oddly, just boarded a ship for a cruise this morning, knew I was going through the checkpoint BS but packed some lighters anyway since smoking is permitted. They run a bag through the scanner and guy says I have a torch and he needs to take it. WTF! He’s fumbling inside and not sure where it was, so I told him to hold on I’d get it as it’s in a side pouch. As I reach in the first lighter I see is a cheap dual flame I got free at an event so I gave it and he went away happy. I had 2 other lighters in there including a very nice desktop I would’ve been pissed to lose. I can see a plane, but why no torch on a cruise ship if you’re letting other lighters on?

I've had torches both go through and get taken from carry on at different times. So far, never an issue with checked and never had a Bic taken

Always cheap ones for fear of loss

Torch lighter don't work up here or only work for a couple days. Think it has something to do with the altitude.

Bic all day.

Definitely the altitude. My Dupont Maxijet barely works at the mile high house. Any higher and no go.

I just grabbed a Virtigo triple while my xikar is in for warranty work, seems good so far. Giant clear fuel tank ftw.

Having a weird issue with Xikar warranty work. I sent my Trezo in because it wasn't lighting and received a work order from Xikar saying that all they needed to do was to reconnect the fuel line. What I didn't notice was that they marked the lighter as the G2 color. The one I sent in was black, not G2.

A week or so later, I receive a lighter bacl from Xikar that is a G2, and pretty beat up. The finish is flaking off, there is discoloration on it, etc. Xikar is giving me a hard time. They clearly got two lighters mixed up and sent mine to someone else and sent the wrong one to me. I don't know how they are going to address this, but they seem to be getting pretty beligerent in their emails. I understand they can send me a "refurb" as a replacement, but it shouldn't be a refurb that is is in worse condition than the one I sent to them.

My love/hate of Xikar continues, but the ship may have righted itself...

After some glacial back and forth over the poor quality replacement they sent me, I finally packed up the bad finish lighter and sent it back to them. They said they would replace it with a crhome finished one.

A week or so ago, I got the exact same, beat up finish lighter back to me in the mail. Grrrr... It also is not adjusted correctly so it's either "blow torch" or "big blow torch", not the controllable flame I am used to. I was pissed, but w/e, it's a lighter and I know how to do the interal adjustment.

Fast forward to today, a package arrives with a brand new in the box chrome Trezzo....

OK, it's a great lighter (wish the tank was a tad bigger) abd I appreciate the end result. Thanks Xikar.

What a mensch!

I would never go anywhere else for any customer service issues. CelticBomber is the best.

Can't say what the favorite is but I've got several Xikars that need to go back, I'm a little leery because they never returned the last one I send back.
