Best shape of my life was probably when I was in my early twenties. Working seven days a week on our dairy farm. Bailing hay, making fence, shoveling chit etc. Was still too skinny 6'2" and 135. Not enough protein or calories coming in.

Knew people who ran every day. Thought they were nuts. Pounding their ankles, knees and hips on pavement day after day. My skinny/fat ass laughed at them.

Fast forward through almost 30 years of being a desk jockey in corporate america contributed to my sloth as I climbed to 212 pounds at my worst.

Its been about 15 months since starting light and about 4 months into moderate exercise.

A knee and a hip have gone from inconveniences to soreness to stiff and achy. My running friends from the 80s and 90s have stopped running. One has bone on bone in one knee.

I look and feel better (other than the knee and hip). BP and cholesterol both down. But at the cost of knee and hip issues? Maybe replacements?

Is exercise stupid?

Exercise is for the "rich and very well off $$$"
They are so bored with life in general and the current gash they are banging they gotta go to the gym and try and impress strange gash...

If I didn't have to scrounge thru trash and dumpsters every day to survive...I might have time for exercise?

scrounging thru trash and dumpsters sounds like exercise... you could make and sell a video... '5 hours abs by Scrounging'... maybe even play some oldies to go along with it... 'Scrounging to da Oldies' or somethin... 🤔

Pick a better exercise for yourself. Stairmaster? Elliptical? Adaptive motion trainer? Hell, just walking is good for you if you do it briskly.

Tank wants to smell every fkn pole and hydrant, not to mention patches of grass... so brisk is not happening until the last mile of the walk when his mind goes off of other dog smells to his food bowl.

Just staying out of the easy chair is gonna help. (Not suggesting you sit around a lot). I don’t exercise but I’ve always been very active. Ive been fairly lucky as I’m in pretty good shape so far. Guess we’ll see how Father Time treats me

Exercise is not just running, biking etc it’s getting off your dead ass and moving. We were made to move and not watch the tube. Ever see what peeps looked like 50 years ago when they did manual jobs?

We have become a bunch of fat fuqs due to our lifestyles . MOVE!

At 29 yrs old, I was warned by a young orthopedic surgeon at the Kerlan Jobe Clinic, who later became the team doctor for the L.A. Angels, that my knees were not equipped to withstand running and tennis...twenty years of running and tennis later, knucklehead me had my right knee replaced...

he suggested alternate forms of exercise, like walking, swimming and bicycling...

so yes...the wrong kind of exercise is stupid...

I recommend 12 ounce curls and chasing strippers….

That won't work. If you have enough cash, strippers won't run. If you don't, you'll never catch them

After I had my 2nd shoulder surgery, my orthopedic surgeon recommended swimming as part of the rehab process. Initial efforts left me pretty winded even though I was in good tennis shape. Should have kept up the 3 times a week sessions, I was kinda decent after 3 months.

Swimming the breast stroke & side stroke is best after a shoulder acromioplasty, I know from experience back in 1994?....not freestyle or butterfly( the stupist swimming stroke known to mankind)..

Walking also but it has to be brisk or hilly climbs ...flat walking is worthless...
Biking is great too...just put on strobe lights as not to be run over by FOSSILS WITH WRAP AROUND SUNGLASSES WEARING WHITE VINYL VELCRO STRAPPED SHOES PURCHASED FROM THE BACK OF THE SUNDAY PAPER PARADE RAG/MAG.
