I have a question for the vets or anyone forvthat matter.I as most know smoke a few "sweet" cigars when I fistcstarted smoking,before the tabaks etc....I used just a regular cutter.As I got into smokes I bought the bugatti lighterwith punch and was 50/50 not a big preference.Now since smoking the naturals,baccarat,and tabaks use the punch cutter as it allows to keep more cap.I have started to smoke alot of the smaller..sorta cigarillo sized sticks which at times my punch will mess up cap....So my question is about the v cutters vs the 7mm xicar cutter.Which of these two choices would be your suggestion with a ...smaller sticks...and b trying to save as much cap as possible????Most of the lines I'm referring to are not larger sticks so draw issues are really not a problem...I have tried the multiple razor cutter...forget the name but you push cigar into it and it puts several cuts into cap.That thing takes alot of gettin used to and so far have gotten at best 50/50 results as it seems to tear cap easily....thanks for any advice🇨🇮

V cutter exposes the most surface area and will tend to make the draw easier- not good for a skinny or short cigar as this can lead to overheating. I would use a quality cutter like a xikar or palio and just skim the surface of the wrapper on the head ( or better yet- use scisors for optimal control of how much and how wide the cut will be.

I do have scissors which I love though on smaller sticks ..such as say a 38 or so the punch cutter is betterbimo just tastevalot different with cap gone ....I may try 7mm punch...I sometimes use tools. On my scissors which worx best so far...thx for advice on v cuttervas did not know how much got removed which u answered...thx again...

Smoke'm backwards then you don't have to do any cutting!

You could also do the classic golf tee punch too.

I use a Xikar cast aluminum V-cutter for most of my cutting. Thing cuts perfect every time. It takes abuse and most of the paint has worn off. Started out black and is mostly brushed aluminum. On real small ring sizes, I just move the cigar closer to the edge of the V. With larger rings, I just move the cutter a fraction of an inch off center, cut it, then move it to the other side and cut it.

I use v-cut on everything smaller rg to lrg rg even on beli tips it something isnt right you can always g cut it

Never really used a v-cutter and infrequently used a punch. I've always had really good luck with either a Zino Davidoff or Palio double blade cutter. Both are high quality cutters that won't make a mess out of your cigars. In a pinch I've also used a sharp pocket knife to remove just the cap on cigars. Also, Z-cutters and Punches don't work on any of the figurados (i.e. tapered cigars). YMMV🌫

Xikar X8. I've used several (easily double digits) different cutters/types to try to find the best fit for me. I lucked into an X8 with a promo code on an order about a year ago and haven't looked back. I've always leaned towards the larger ring smokes, 56 plus, but can cut a Baitfish with ease. The cutter's lightweight, can take a beating, and has stayed razor sharp.

I don't like the v-cutter and mostly use a punch. For torpedos and bellicosos I use a guillotine cutter. Don't care for sweet caps, but on cigars too small for the punch, I use the guillotine cutters with one side open only. This limits the width of the cut, and if the cut is too thin, you can just cut again.

I love the V cutter and use it on most all cigars, but I agree that the small ring stuff (IMO below about 44) I would use a guillotine or scissor. the smaller stuff is definitely harder to get the cut just right and have had more then a few come undone for me as well so I feel your pain.

I bought the shuriken and its just does not seem to do well on smaller sticks ino.If not careful it messes the cap up...

My lighter has three different punches on it, I punch everything except Torp's. Thinking about ordering a CigarPerforator and trying it out…

I have seen several two way lighters. As well as 3_4 way punches...Is the cigar perforator like the shuriken?As I said shuriken imo is great on 48+ sticks though smaller sticks it is easy to tear cap up...I am gonna google tjis perforator..

The perforator definately looks like a new toy for me..Thanks plowboy....I also am gonna try using a bullet and sharpen.That way hole size is easy to adjust...I really like the looks of perforator

Here's a link to the "perforator" that has a youtube video in it. Watch the video closely and you'll find a pretty fatal flaw in their system of steps....you can really see it when they perforate the torpedo toward the end of the video. I'm not sure if I would be comfortable using that much pressure just holding the stick. They even use it through the cello!

Well I'll look at video but I trust your opinion...My main goal as said is for smaller naturals de ...The shuriken is great on say 50rg + but it can terrorize a smaller 42 or so mainly due to depth of cut..If it were smaller and shallower it would b great...My punch I believe to be an 11 ...too big...so I really like the bullet suggestion .Now I use the long tapered tool inside of my scissors to poke say 3_4 holes which generally works great...Problem is that is not sharp so if it catches,so to speak the whole cap comes of ...HmmmmThx for info on that chew...I gonna try bullet and c what happens.If that works well I'll probably order a 7mm xicar punch mainly for warranty.I think bullet would not stay sharp well due to metal composition...Hell the purge tool works well too may just sharpen a bit and use that

I recently ran across my Shuriken cutter. Laughed when I saw it then threw it back in my sock drawer. It never really seemed to work for me. Anyone else use it?
