Large sized sistema Tupperdor with two cedar shelves and 2 65% Bovedas . Cigar oasis digital hygrometer and about 30 cigars. Some with cello some not
I can not get the rh below 70%. Now I used to used 69% Bovedas and the rh was also 70%
What am I doing wrong? The hygrometer was tested in a plastic bag with the 69%boveda and calibrated.
This is driving me nuts!

What size boveda. Where you live? I ask because what’s the outdoor humidity ? Or inside your house

^the Boveda is 60 grams and I have 2 in there. I’m in Long Island NY and the temp is 33 degrees outside and 72 inside.
The tupp is kept in a cabinet. I’m not sure what the house humidity is but not anything out of the ordinary I’m sure

I’m going to calibrate again. Just stick the hygrometer in a baggie with the Boveda.

How long have the 65% bovedas been in the box? The cedar and cigars may have absorbed a lot of moisture. May take a while.

In Long Island this time of year, you may want to put the bovies in a ziploc, maybe with the cigars (maybe not), and open the humidor for a day to let it dry out some.

My thought is to open the tupper up for 24 hours, let it lose a bunch of humidity, then seal it without the bovedas for 24 hours and see what the hygrometer reads. Then add the bovedas back in and let them bring the RH back UP to 65%.

I agree with Lee and Stogie but not sure I would leave it open for 24 hours, I'm thinking a few minutes at a time. I also live in the northeast and am guessing the relative humidity in your house during the winter is low like single digits to 30%ish without humidifier. Then even if you have a humidifier running your RH is still probably no more than 50%. Anyway less than your humidor. Sometimes when I add new stock the RH in my humidor will change especially if the cigars are just coming in from traveling out in the cold. Just leave the door to your humidor open for a little bit to change the air then close it and check it again next time you want a cigar. Boveda packs will will release humidity if it's in an environment less than the number on the pack and consume humidity if the environment is more than the number on the pack. That said if your Boveda packs are full of water then they may not absorb the higher humidity quite as well so add more Boveda packs with same RH% as the others or let the humidity out by opening the door to your humidor for a few minutes. This works because your RH outside the humidor is much less than in your humidor. The RH in your humidor may rise and fall a little but will eventually settle out. Remember the more stock you have in your humidor the longer it will take for the RH to change. Also remember there is no harm in adding more Boveda packs to help with process. Some people use many Boveda packs in there humidor as dividers.

Update: I put the 65% Boveda in a ziploc about 2 hours ago and it’s reading 69%

You have too much air space/free space in your tupperdore.
Best if it is at least 75% filled, more is even better.
You need to buy more cigars…

I'd roll with the letting fresh, dry air in periodically. My guess is some smokes received overhumidified and need to equalize for a while

Those hygrometers are often off by more than they should be. Don't let it drive you crazy.

^ I believe so…but for some reason I can’t hit an accurate rh. I have recalibrated, bought different hygrometers and for some reason it doesn’t seem to work for me. Tupper is solidly air tight too, I think.
I’m probably making too big a deal out of it but it gnaws at me lol

If your tupperware volume is only at say, 20% full?
You will have chronic problems. Every time you open it, your RH will go whack.
Do the dollar bill trick……maybe your containers arent that great?
