Does anybody use this app to keep track of their cigars? I dont have a huge inventory, but the idea of keeping tabs on what and how much i have is appealing. Im not exactly tech savvy so something simple is best for me. What do you all do? I know pencil and paper is probably easiest and best...

I just use a spreadsheet which has Brand, size, quantity,comments, source, price(s) and date received. I added a location column too, but haven't used it in the last couple of years. What I find most helpful is the comments, price and date received. I add cigars as they come in and make a comment as I smoke them. with 12-15 storage places, I just can't see how to keep up- even if I caught up. Just another thing to drive a cigar smoker crazy.

I use to use cigar scanner in the beginning. But now all I do is put them in and forget about it. I have started to write on a little price of paper any info like where and when I got it and tape it to the cellophane, or who gifted/sent me the cigar as well.

Yeah, I store and forgot. My humis are chaos. I thrive on chaos.

The, later, when I digging through a box looking for something that I know I have somewhere, I see stuff I had forgetting about, and it's like "oh, sweet, forgot those." It's like someone giving me cigars that I like. 😇

What do y'all do to organize storage space? I was recently in the position of having a bunch of half-filled (or less) boxes in the humis, no place to put new stuff, have spent between 5 and 6 hours consolidating and storing, trying to get the same brand in the same humi (for the most part). I still have a cooler to go, so I will be over 6 hours into this project by the time I finish. It's a chore!

Do you consolidate boxes along the way? Do like I do and leave it until it's an all-day job? Is there a better way to keep up with it?

I write the date on the bottom of new boxes. Gave up on taking notes years ago but it helped in the beginning.

I write month and year on the cello, and that's it.

Of course, I test the RH on each individual cigar weekly, too.

No, n00bs generally purchase a lot of trash. Its okay. Everyone was a n00b at one point and time. Stick around and you'll see them talking about cigars that you know are terrible but you've bought in the past and moved on because your palette improved with knowledge, or don't. I really DGAF.

They are not all bad - most are mediocre, some are bad and every couple of years they make something good (that eventually goes downhill or disappears).

I had one or two years ago. I don’t remember it being terrible but I may not have actually known any better at the time.

I too use to try to catalog them but gave up within in a year or so. Too much headache to worry about. Used to have like qty 3, 64 qt totes and a couple under the bed storage totes when I was in my accumulation stage.

I've wised up and narrowed down over the years where I'm down to qty 1, 64 qt tote and a nightstand size wineador.

I still don't know exactly what I have. As Lee said, every now and again when I try to organize them I run into "$hit, I forgot I had these" episodes.

^Bucky this seems to be the most likely scenario! I’m probably going to get bored with the whole process except for the actual smoking. I’m not an everyday smoker so I’m accumulating faster than I can smoke. I guess a lot of us have the same issue.

I don't know much about how the other seller sites work, but the lots from cbid all come with a nice packing label sticker in the box that shows the whole order nicely, I have all of those in one of the zip lock bags from one of the purchases.

One could easily create a physical filing system with just these packing labels if one didn't get too far behind.

Another thing you can do on Cbid is copy your "Won Bids" into a Word file. That keeps track of the date, how much you paid etc. It also carries the link, so you can press Alt and click it to see the Cbid page for the closed auction if you forget or want to see what other people paid on that lot.

But you have to do it within a couple of days (2 I think) of when you won the bid. Sometimes I've waited until all my bids were closed and missed some of the early ones.
