So now that I'm buying more cigars than I can smoke to let them age I wonder about the plastic wrapper on some boxes. I'm really loving AF 858s and Hemingways and some others and started stock piling boxes. Most boxes come wrapped in plastic and new AF include a boveda-like pack inside the box. I'm storing them in a humidor but wonder do you all just leave the plastic on the boxes for years or do you remove the plastic wrap? Pros, cons? Please advise. Thanks

I would open the Fuente box and take out the boveda now. Years ago I bought a box of Fuentes (Hemingways IIRC) and stored them unopened for many months. When I finally got around to opening that box there was mold on the top row of cigars.

Aside from that, I generally remove the plastic from the box. Never thought much about why. Just never seemed to serve a purpose in home storage to me I gyess.

No way to plastic. Get rid of it and inspect- at the store if possible.

I was thinking the same but wasn't going to break the tape seals on the boxes until I read deadeye's comment. I like this opened box method. I wanted to see the cigars anyway.
