I got a nice deal on 10 Torano Reserva Decadencia's here on CB. These are the ones in the glass tubes.
got them and so far the two that Ive had are spongy, or mushy, wont stay lit and generally suck.
Whats the cure? Take em out of the tubes I assume and let them age a bit?

If it’s under-filled rest isn’t going to help, if it’s a tubo I’m not sure how well rest is going to fix the burn. You may need to try taking one out of the tubo.

Also I haven’t had a good Torano since they sold to General in 2014

General has ruined more than just the Torano brand.

Underfilled and/or too much RH.
Take them out of their tubes and let them rest in your humidor for a few weeks or longer.

I have taken to the practice of opening the cello folded over on the foot end and cutting the excess off.on any cigars bought in quantities less than a box. I put a little sticky backed tag on each stick's cello with the month and year I bought them. I put a purchase date on boxes. Call me crazy but I try to keep a big enough supply to allow time for aging which in my opinion (right or wrong) tends to make medium-strong cigars nicer to smoke. They age slower in cello and slower yet in sealed of cello. Again, I may be crazy.

I find it's good policy to avoid smoking cigars the day I receive them. I know, it's hard to resist. Even with the tubos, I'd suggest removing them, sit them naked in the humidor for three days to a week and then retube them. Lots of folks are in the habit of putting the cigars they intend to smoke soon into a dry box to let the excess moisture gradually leave the sticks. 70% RH is the rule of thumb for storage but you may find that 60-65% smokes better for you. Also pay attention to the temperature of the air in the humidor. In order to be 70% at 70 degrees, the RH should be 59% at 75 degrees and 83% at 65 degrees. If your hygrometer reads 70% but the temperature is 75, you are too moist.

They are flavored cigars and should be kept separate if removed from the tube. Perhaps a dry box or just leaving them out if the humidity outside the box is lower than 60%.

Thanks for great tips gents. The rh is a constant 65% and the temp is 70. I took the rest out of the tubes and will give them a few weeks to dry a bit.
They are also in a separate Tupper just for infused stuff. 👍

I just came across this online and pass it on for any who may be interested. The hygrometer salt test says to use table salt but apparently different table salts are sold. In case your salt is not sodium chloride, here are the readings you should get with different salts. I assume these are the various salts used in Boveda packs.
