It is important to test them twice a day, for a month.
Then you have 60 readings.
Then add up all the temps and RH values, and divide by 60, and you have a solid average.

After that, you only have to repeat the test every 3 months….

agree with Sire, do the 2x/day for 30 days.
But I'm in the camp that believes the median RH is more important than the average for any individual month.

After a year of median results, add those up and divide by 12 to get the average median for the year.

Then start again.

Given the relatively small “low to high spread” of the expected RH and temp readings, I think the mean would be both more valid, and more reliable, than the median.
Now if the spread was say, 20, from low to high?
Maybe the median wins out………………but even then………..I’d have to see the numbahs.
Then again, I’m not so good wif numbahs, or wurds….

Well dats why the use “median” in Real Estate.
As in “the median home price in Cigarville is $375,000”....
Because a few $5,000,000 homes throws off the mean so much as to negatively impact validity and reliability. Home price spreads are too big.

Median is also used in some financial analysis, epidemiology studies, etc.
It just depends...
