Not sure it would have affected the outcome, but Washington has gotten away with 3-4 late hits out of bounds.

Pretty bonehead play calling by Washington on their last possession. Should have kneeled on it 3 plays in a row then punted. If Texas had a quarterback that was just marginally more accurate they would have won

Congrats to Michigan and Washington.

What conference does Texas play in?

Glad Michigan pulled it off.

Wasn't much interested in the second game, but I am rooting for Penix Jr. now. That kid has been through some injuries and setbacks. Might be his destiny to hoist that trophy.

Good luck to him.

I’m thinking Michigan is going to win the CFP. I believe it’s going to come down to who can control the line on both sides of the ball. They did a much better job against a more physical team than Washington. We shall see. Either way I don’t expect a high scoring game.

Michigan 17 - Washington 13

They handled Oregon twice. And the Ducks have more than one Day 1 draft pick on both sides of the ball.

Nephew-in-law is a UW graduate and man, was he NERVOUS towards the end of the game! Normally a quiet guy, he was extra quiet (…if that’s possible…) on the last Texas drive. After the last pass fell incomplete, he let out a sigh of relief and just smiled. We immediately asked if he was gonna try to go to the Championship game. He’s a doctor (…as well as his wife…) so money is not really a concern but appointments will have to be canceled as well as making last-minute travel and lodging arrangements so probably not in the cards.

With that being said, I can see UM dominating both lines of scrimmage and that probably be the key to the game. The “Big Uglies” are almost always unsung but can’t win games without them.

Not sure I’d compare Oregon to Michigan. But that’s just my opinion. Having a couple potential Day 1 draftees also is t a measure of a team’s prowess. Draft history is full of Day 1 draftees who came from chitty teams.

I don’t think Oregon’s defensive line is comparable to Michigan’s. My guess is Phenix is going to spend quite a bit of time running for his life.

Oregon isn’t a chitty team….and they’re draft picks played in the bowl game, that’s what I’d call high character in this day and age. But hey what don’t know I’m not a SEC ball washer.

Never said Oregon was chitty. Just saying that having high draftees on a team doesn’t imply the quality of a team. Also, I’m pretty sure they don’t give trophies for character so that’s irrelevant.

FWIW:
The following hasn’t been updated in 9 years so I’m curious as to what the current stats are.
SEC vs. ACC: 290-144-10
SEC vs. Big 12: 83-67-6
SEC vs. Big Ten: 83-57-2
SEC vs. Pac-12: 68-40-5
SEC vs. AAC: 8-3
SEC vs. Big East: 25-29
SEC vs. C-USA: 121-23
SEC vs. Independents: 624-288-21
SEC vs. MAC: 83-13
SEC vs. MWC: 14-7
SEC vs. SWC: 197-141-17
SEC vs. Sun Belt: 117-7
SEC vs. WAC: 71-11

Really? All but 2 of those wins came against teams with losing records. If I were inclined I’d take the time to compare the two conferences SOS and other pertinent stats, but I’m pretty sure the ACC wouldn’t measure up. There’s a reason they are the undisputed #5 Power 5 Conference.

FWIW,

The 14 member SEC has 6 teams in the final Top 25 CFP rankings.
#’s 5, 6, 9, 11, 13, 25

The 14 member ACC has 3.
#’s 4, 16, 19

Fill the room with a bunch of fat good ole’ boys gnawing on chicken gizzards and up to their backsides in back bacon, and make an addendum to the current rules!

What a bunch of jealous wusses. The SEC didn’t make the rules. The CLF committee did. Don’t blame the SEC if you don’t like the outcome. All 5 Power Conferences signed on to the bill of goods the CFP committee proposed. What, you’re all gonna pi$$ and moan because the SEC is and has for some time been the dominate NCAA football conference? Look at the stats. The SEC has a better win/loss record against all conferences except the Big East. Hate the game not the player.

Cousin fuckers? Really? But, hey that’s about the same as whining about character. It’s funny to watch someone deflect. I guess you have to find some way to minimize the fact that your team and its conference is second tier. I mean when a team isn’t consistently winning their fans have to figure out some way to make their team appear more relevant than they are. [shruggs shoulders]

Really doesn’t matter anymore anyway. Going to a 12 team playoff next year. Perhaps more teams down the road. Can’t wait to hear the future excuses and deflections when the SEC continues to dominate now that the wannabes get a shot but fall short.

True. But, by including so many teams it’ll mute FSU type arguments. Probably also lead to some ridiculous blowouts of SEC wannabes.
