Brothers of The Leaf:

When I need a laugh and a little amusement I look up
cigar reviews from the prevalent peyote smokers/chewers
reviewers.

In over 40yrs of cigars smoking, i have yet to detect
either on tongue or nose , any of the following bull****
that the idiots sense.

BURNT WOOD
SWEET FLORALS, SAGE,ORANGE,/MAPLE, CHAMMOMILE TEA
NUTMEG, CUMIN, RAW SPANISH PEANUTS,CARROTS and last
but not least JUICY FRUIT GUM!!!

And tongue tingles of in the front of MACADAMIA NUTS
in the back PUMPERNICKEL.
WTF? .
The comments on the bands and packaging are equally hilarious
Any comments?

^ Yeah, those chocolate macadamia things you sent me were bangin!

I don't read reviews. Not really. I read the halfwheel reviews for the intro stuff about the cigar, company, etc., then the end notes about how it performed, but as soon as they get to the part where their sniffing it, I skip to the end. I read Katman sometimes for his musings about Curved Air, which are really well written and funny as hell.

I remember one review from some magazine a long time ago that was of a barber pole, and the nimrod reviewer commented on how he could taste the flavor changes from the Connecticut to the maduro, apparently not understanding that because it's a barber pole, the other side of the cigar is transitioning from Maduro to connie. Both wrappers contribute equally the whole time. Always stuck with me. The power of expectation ...

^but if you hold it one way you see the connie wrap. Then flip it for maduro flavor šŸ˜‚

Sooo do they ever do a habano / maduro barber pole??? I usually skip barber poles in general. Just cause. Well. I do have some ogre cigars. I liked that one. Wonder where I put them?? I should have several. Haven’t seen em lately.

As far as reviews I did review a few cigars here. I thought my reviews were fantastic. Notes of not red pepper Cream.

Yeah I either like a cigar or I don’t.

Eh……………some people have very refined palates.
Some people have goat palates.
Some people are full of chit.
Some people wax philosophically (Katman)

These are some flavors I get regularly, from different cigars…
Leather,
Wood, burnt wood
Coffee, bitter coffee
Chocolate, bitter chocolate
Raisins, dark dried fruit
Various peppers
Subtle baking spices
Salty caramel
Various sweet floral notes that I can’t isolate
Charred meat/steak
And others on occasion….

A long time ago I read a review that mentioned sweet red wine and I actually got it. Don't believe everything you read - particularly cigar reviews.

Searching for those flavors is one of my favorite things about smoking cigars. Often times I can only taste ā€œtobaccoā€ flavor but usually I can identify something. Cedar, black pepper, chocolate, coffee or general flavor profiles like earthy, sour, dried fruit…I can detect those flavors in various cigars. As I said, I truly enjoy concentrating on trying to find those flavors. But I say, smoke like you want to smoke! šŸ˜Ž
