No cigar for me…….going for 7 days.
Was slowly losing ability to pick up flavor notes on my better cigars.
Realized it has been a COUPLE YEARS since I took a one week break.
I typically smoke one cigar a day, in the evening……..I’m not a hardcore volume smoker.
Still, a break was long overdue.
Already deciding on what cigar will break my abstinence.

When was your last break?

Had a 2 month break over the winter. It was accidental

Got sick last week and took 7 days off.

First cigar back was amazing. Can pick up so much more with tasters that aren't tainted with yesterday's cigar.

I smoked maybe 20-30 cigars for the entire year in 2023.

I’ve missed probably 2 maybe 3 days in the last 15 or 16 months. Usually smoke more than 1 per day, especially in Fall and Winter.

Usually only miss a day when we are on a trip and can't find a suitable place. Yep, that 1st cigar after a hiatus is more enjoyable.

Could not tell you last time I did not have one . I bet that first one is going to be amazing . Pick wisely and let us know what you decide.

I only stop for a few days when im sick. Probably once every 2-3 years. I agree the first one after a break is always great.

Last June.

For the last few years (…around 5 or 6…) I do a 10 day break prior to having to do the bloodwork for my annual physical (…tip of the hat to Danm…). Not that I’mma gonna be buying more insurance anytime soon or have a job that prohibits nicotine (…e.g., Danm’s hospital job…) but I’ve found the break to be good for me mentally as well as physically. After a few days into the break, food starts tasting better and wife says I don’t cough in the middle of the night. Finding something to do to fill the 2 hour smoke window is the hardest part of the break but no big deal. Read a book, go on the iPad / computer, rearrange my cigar coolers, etc., etc. Of course when I’mma sick, that’s an unplanned forced break so the timing of when and how long varies.

And yes, as many have already stated, the first cigar after an extended break is AWESOME!

Last break was 8 days after having a tooth pulled- the first cigar was not awesome but ok.
