I am smoking a Padron 40th maduro.

The unpopular opinion: the only REALLY good Padron cigars are the really expensive ones, and even those aren't worth the coin.

Go ahead and talk your sh*t.

I really enjoy an aged X000 or a Delicias.

But I agree.

You are 100% correct. The regular Pardon line is nothing more than a decent/average smoke. The 1964 is a step up but not by much. Just call it a good/solid smoke. The 1926 and so on are excellent smokes. There are dozens and dozens of brands auctioned off at CBid that are a shelf above the regular Pardon line that can be gotten for a few bucks.✌🏼🙏🏼🇺🇲

This^^

A well rested x000 series is for me, very close to a 26 or 64 (in Maduro, as I don’t purchase the regular line), which results in me sticking to the x000 series.

Have not smoked a high end Padron.

I wouldn’t drop the coin for those no matter how good they are.

Sorry, RAH, but that is simply a load of chit, and the market supports that.

Off the shelf cbid smokes, for a couple bucks, that are as good as the Padron X000 series………..lmfao!

I luv ya RAH, but get the fuq outa here with that nonsense!

I have ranted about this before. I think they make good cigars, not great ones. At least not to me. They're well-made and consistent, and that's worth something, but flavor-wise, they're only good. For me, they don't have any flavor characteristics that distinguish them from 100 other Nicaraguan puros.

BUT, I went to the mothership a few weeks ago and wound up buying a couple to bring home (I think a 64 and 26 natural, not sure). I try them every once in a while to see if my thoughts / tastes have changed. That happens sometimes.

In the same price range, I would rather have a Plascencia Alma del [whatever] or a Liga 9.

I'm pretty much in agreement with the King - on both posts. I've liked the Padrons- but not the price.

He has the tastebuds of a bulldozer.

ANYONE that hasn't done the "Bury the Padron x000's in the humidor for 5 years" trick...really need to. There's a reason why Padron, Fuente, & Perdomo can successfully do what they do year in and year out. I get why Cigar newcomers want to try anything and everything under the sun, but if you're smoking bottom tier cigars all of the time you're really missing out on what being a B/SOTL is about.

Yep..

I have a box of 2000 maddies from May, 2018. They are ready.

Been holding off, because I know once I break into them………..they will just kind of vanish.

Which is why I stick with the x000 series………when I can get them at a “good” price………..which is becoming increasingly difficult.

I’d take a Liga 9 over any 26 or 64.

Others feel just the opposite. Everyone has different tastes.

One piece of advice for the noobs regarding Padrons…………sip them….even the larger vitolas.

You literally can puff them about 1/2 as hard as most other cigars.

This keeps things cool and flavorful.

Plenty of folks smoke them too fast, hit them too hard, get them hot, and then complain about how they taste just like any other Nic puro.

There are a lot of people who have been smoking cigars for years and years…………….but still don’t know how to properly smoke a cigar.

I mean...if you were to...I don't know...replace them with a new box to bury...not make that your "go to" smoke...the suspense would be killing me...OPEN THAT BIZNITCH UP!!!!!!!

I like the 1926 and 1964 Anniversary Series as full flavored, strong and complex cigars for an occasional treat. But the recent price increases and lack of decent discounts anywhere are pricing them out of my league. Fortunately I bought several boxes years ago when they were "reasonably" priced...

Wow aging a box that’s already got some nice age to it before it hits the shelves. You guys never cease to amaze me with your aging prowess. Veteran move.

Especially considering Padron’s aging process…

X000 series - 2.5 years

PADRON 1964 ANNIVERSARY - aged 4 years

PADRON SERIE 1926 - aged 5-10 years

PADRON FAMILY RESERVE 85 YEARS MADURO - aged 10 years

PADRON SERIE 1926 90TH ANNIVERSARY MADURO - aged 5 years

PADRON FAMILY RESERVE 50 YEARS MADURO - aged 10 years

wasn’t meant to be a bash. Was meant as I continue to be amazed at the aging dedication and patience folks have. I’m trying to age boxes for 5 years but after 2 years I start smoking them. N00b problems 😇

Wait for 5 and you will have the closest thing to a '64 you can get without the '64 price.

I'll take the other side on this. I know many try every new cigar that hits the market but over the 25 or so years I have been smoking hand rolled cigars the two most consistently good producers have been Padron and Fuente.

To my tastes the Padron '64 and '26 Maduro lines always been worth the coin but I have tended to use my humidity space age Habanos and smoke most Nics within a few years.
