I placed two orders at Tenski night before last, and received tracking numbers today. They might be b.s. tracking numbers, haven't tried them. I usually get my stuff 3 or 4 days later, BUT, I live in PA, so not far for them to ship.

I'm usually the same, but occasionally I'll receive next day from many of the PA places. Most are well under 2 hours away. So I guess that helps.

And yeah the tracking number are S**t

To Danm and all: Since there aren't really any trackers (Lol), how many days is it taking you to get your cigars, on average, so I'll know when to expect them?

RobertHively wrote:

7 days average, sometimes 10. Takes 2-3 days to get the tracking number and then 4-6 days to arrive.

The small place gets my orders to me usually about 4 business days. CBid account mails all of my purchases for the previous week on Tuesday, though I haven’t bought much on CBid lately. The indigenous person made of wood tobacco place has been about as prompt as the small place with the few orders I’ve made there. The Monkey has a mixed record but never has it taken more than 7 business days from the day of my order. Any other site is not as reliable as the ones I’ve listed but TBF, I haven’t placed many orders from other places. One here and another there.

Got the smokes--both orders--6 days.

The Aladino's look and smell great. Well packed substantial cigar. I'd like to dig into one today but I'm going to wait at least 2 weeks, maybe a month.

Just a heads up to youse guys. Tenski has joined the ranks of other large retailers and now collects excise tax for more states (not all...yet)

Thursday morning I went to hit checkout on my cart and saw the bad news. Thankfully they'd also emailed out a coupon that morning $30/150 and I had $9 in points that almost covered the $45 in taxes on my $165 order.

But it narrows the pool of places I can order from, and they've been getting 90% of my orders for the past year.

Excise Tax by State
We are required to collect and remit state-specific excise tax for shipments to the following states:

Colorado
Indiana
Maine
Maryland
Michigan
North Carolina
Ohio
South Dakota
Virginia
Wyoming

Are the taxes based on the price or the MSRP price of the cigar ?

tonygraz wrote:

Depends on the state. Indiana it's based off wholesale price, so if the retailer calculates it properly it's impossible to guesstimate the total. I suspect most just slap the 35% onto the sale price.

I tried to buy one of those coolerdors from CI when they were $80. But CI was collecting tobacco excise tax even on a humidor. $40+ in taxes on a $80 humidor. List was $120 but they were on sale plus stacked coupons to get down to $80.

Ordered Pepin & Padron 2.0, from Tenski, Friday, Aug, 2nd. Today, Aug 7th, I still had not received a tracking number.

Emailed them. They said that they didn't have the Padrons I bought and that they are going to refund my account, and that the Pepins would ship.

I asked them why hadn't the Pepins already been shipped and why hadn't my account already been refunded? They said the Pepins didn't ship bc them not having the Padrons slowed my order down. Lol But they are going to "Upgrade" my shipping to UPS and that it will ship tomorrow.

I used to love the Tenski place. It was a good company. But yeah, I'm done with them. It's not a "deal" if they're selling you a picture of cigars, and not cigars. Doesn't that sound familiar? Sounds like a certain discount tobacco auction site circa 2017.

From now on I'm just going to get what I can get from the other auction place, with a rare order at a more expensive retailer.

Maybe so. I have had an order held for a while before and have had partial order refunded. Kind of bummed me a bit as I would have rather they just asked if I could wait. Their shopping policy could be improved to save them a few dollars IMO. If I buy two or three days in a row it doesn't make sense for them to ship separate packages, but that's how they do it. Maybe at some point they will implement a weekly ship day like cBid does That would make good sense, save them some shopping costs and help keep low prices.

And to piggyback on that, my wife's only complaint about my cigars is that I get too many packages that she has to take in from the porch. Monday I got 5 boxes. They were all ordered well over a week previously but shipped out from tenski on two days last week. The weekend got em stacked up at the local post office and they came in one drop. She was quite upset with me.

One or two boxes a week, never says a word. Two small boxes in one day she'll complain. If I got it down to one large box per week, I'd never hear anything about it.

Why would you guys want to order from a place that says cigars are in stock and they're not, doesn't provide functional tracking numbers and doesn't ship cigars in a timely manner?

Deals too good? Just curious. Tenski from 2017-2023 was great. Great deals, shipped fast, free shipping.

Wonder what happened to them??

Well fuq, since I’m the azzhat who started this thread, I have to chime in………to be fair.
My last two orders, placed 7/28 (Mi Queridas) and 7/31(Papas Fritas)…..BOTH had working tracking numbers, and both arrived in less than 9 days, which has been my normal delivery time for years.

Don’t know what’s up with them. Growing pains?
Hopefully they can fix things.

+1, but I’m going to keep an eye on tenski for certain deals, especially since my last two orders were ok.
BTW they hosed me on a Padron order as well, but at least I got some Padrons.
I’m thinking their system just can’t keep up in real time, so they accept orders when in fact their inventory is empty. This probably happens more with certain cigars, like Padrons, certain MF lines, certain Fuentes, Ligas, etc.
